Better late than never, they always say. The Ventures, a band formed by Don Wilson and Bob Bogle in Tacoma almost 50 years ago were finally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tonight. The ceremony was broadcast live on on Vh1 Classic, and a special two and a half hour highlight edition is scheduled to air on VH1 Saturday, March 22 at 11:00 PM.

Perhaps best known for "Walk, Don't Run" and the theme for Hawaii 5-0, The Ventures have sold almost 100 million albums to date. The Ventures are the third inductees from Washington State, alongside Jimi Hendrix and KJR-AM DJ Pat O'Day.

I have a random story about The Ventures... this story was told to me by my ex's dad.

It goes something like this:

Many years ago he was walking around in SF with one of his buddies and they took a shortcut through some dicey alley. A random guy walked up to 'em and asked if they wanted to buy a guitar and a Mosrite. He was asking $50 for it. My ex's dad, being an amateur player, new it was a good deal and bought it.

Years later he went to a Ventures concert and brought the guitar along to get it signed. When one of guitarists from the band saw the guitar he called over a few of the other guys from the band. They all checked it out and started laughing. The guitarist told him it was his guitar and it was stolen from him last time they were in SF. He ID'ed it by some of the scrathes and scuffs etc.

My ex's dad felt horrible and offered to give it back... the guitarist replied "You can have it. That thing's the worst playing guitar i've ever had".

They took a bunch of pics etc so the story's definitely legit.
