Cat Coward Part 2
For the majority of the show Marshall hid in the right corner of the store and seemed to apologize after every other song. The audience kept having to encourage her. People behind me were shouting things like "It's ok honey" and "Your beautiful baby". I found this fucking insane. Why should we, the people who paid money to see this women perform, have to be the ones to pull a decent performance out of her. She jerked around the stage in a manor I'd never seen before. I can understand when people are just really feeling the music and dance about in a way that may look "uncool" but this was just weird. She looked as though she had a strange disorder that made her twitchy and jerky. Despite all these things that kinda turned me off on her i couldn't deny the unbelievably beautiful voice this woman has. I only wished that she hadn't been accompanied by a full band. I found the band a little distracting. It took away from the beauty of her voice. I think the experience would have been much more powerful had she been alone on stage with just her guitar and her voice. Theres something really moving to me about a strong voice accompanied by stripped down instrumentation. I would have found my time at the show better spent had i been witness to a giant break down. Some recovering addict out there needs to turn me into a believer. Can sober artists make sensational music?

I don't mind the idea of a full band, but maybe that wasn't the right one for her. It was an eternity before she acknowledged anyone's presence on stage. Very slow to take. Not sure what the deal was, but the magic was not really in the air for her on that end.
Along the way she issued an apology to the crowd but I have no idea why. Apart from āIām sorry,ā what she mumbled into the microphone was completely indistinguishable. The mystery was alluring. Was she tanked? Was she tired? Was it English? What in the hell was she talking about?
