The Fire and Reason, A band located in New York, seems to be a rising band on the Indie/Rock scene. They've taken the world by the horns and faced it straight on! Having recently released an album, this band has taken everyone by storm! Look for this amazing and unique band to play in cities near you.

Whats the main inspiration for your music?

I guess life! When I am going through some emotional times it's good to be able to have an outlet for those emotions. On the flipside when I am feeling in a sexy, or party mood I love to write songs that reflect that too... I guess that's more the mood I have been in lately-- Our last 2 songs have been about dancing and partying, and having fun and trying to forget your problems.

How did you come up with your bands name, The Fire and Reason?

Steve actually came up with the name a year or so before I even met him. He wrote a song that we use to play out live called "OUCH" and the first line in that song is "I am the Fire and the Reason don't underestimate this sound, this sound." and it was more of an electro-rock-dance song, so when we started putting this band together we wanted to keep going in that direction and we took the name from that lyric.

Who is your biggest influence for your sound? Any Bands or Artist in Particular?

Hmmm we are really into alot of electro-acts right now, like JUSTICE, MSTRKRFT, Does It Offend You Yeah?, but at the same time I love Brittany Spears new Record lol, and Madonna of course...PJ Harvey, The Kills, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and I am obsessed with Classical music- - so we are kind of all over the place-- We love all kind of music and try and reflect that in what we do.

You've played at the Hub Festival in Liverpool, What was that like? Any funny stories?

That was an awesome experience, and I can't wait to go back to the UK this summer! Funny stories, geez-- I guess when our Liverpool fans took us in, and use to take us out drinking every afternoon-- one time they took us behind this HUGE ABBEY (like a church) and we were literally drinking in like a grave-yard. They have these sick phones there and our friend Stevie started playing some crazy techno, and Thomas (our old bassplayer) got on top of this column and started raving-- it was hilarious and we videotaped him... no one has ever seen it, but trust me its funny as HELL!!

After you had released your EP, one of the band members ended up leaving the group, how hard was it for you guys looking for a new member and performing?

That was really hard when Chris left. It was like the end of the original TFaR! Looking for new members is always tough. Auditioning people, and trying to see if they fit in is always hard. We were lucky that we found Joe Ze after only auditioning a few drummers-- and we had a pretty good run with him. Unfortunately we have had more line up changes since then and are almost back to the original line up which is just Steve and I, Haha!

You just finished recording an album, How was that for you? Is there a song on there that means alot to you inparticularly?

It was awesome, we worked with Jimmy MOD from the band Elefant, we couldn't have ended up with a more perfect match. He totally got what we were trying to go for, and actually pushed us even further into the electronic-dance, and even more POP vein that we have always threatened to go, but never did. I guess finally recording '11 Minutes' was emotional for me. That song has been around for like 2 years and it's great to finally have an amazing recorded version of it. On the filpside it was great recording the newer stuff, and we literally wrote and recorded SUGAR KOMA like the last week we were in the studio-- that song came like a lightning bolt and we wrote and recorded it within like 2 days of Steve writing the beat-- lol

Everyone seems to love the songs you released from the album, 'Sugar Koma' and 'It Starts with one'? Which one is your personal favorite for you?

Well "It Starts With One" is a very personal song that I wrote, again, like 2 years ago-- and fans have been hearing it live and seeing clips of it live so it's great to have it recorded and people loving it! That song is a song about HOPE and believing in yourself. Like an anthem for young girls to hold on through those tough years when they are growing up and realize that things will get better and that a WHOLE WORLD, and LIFE is theirs for the taking!

Sugar Koma on the other hand is a sign of the future, where TFaR is heading, which is more DANCE and FUN VIBE! So we have a mix of the old and NEW! We got to record older songs that people always heard but never had a copy of and brand new stuff we are just writing!

For your song, 'Starts with one', what was going on in your life when you wrote that?

The song has to do with my sister and mom, and what was going on when we were growing up...It wasn't easy at all, and it was kind of me singing to us 10 years ago when we were going through stuff, and telling them that don't worry things will be ok, and to not give up!

You seem to have a large fan-base, when do you plan on doing a nationwide tour to promote the new album? Where are you excited about playing?

You know we have so many fans all over the world, and we would love to play for every single one of them.. the weird thing is that we get approached alot by fans and show promoters/bookers from countries outside the U.S. to play-- The ironic thing is that you would figure it would be easier and make more sense for us to tour the U.S. but it seems that overseas is REALLY HOT for The fire...LOL! I cant wait to play in MEXICO this summer! Its gonna be AWESOME!

You've been in and out of contests, having major support from fans, and won some of the contests, tell us about that? How did that go?

To be honest, we have written off contest... We have won a few and it really didnt end up doing much for us... We are still trying to collect on some prizes that SYNTHESIS promised us over 2 years ago-- it's lame , it's more of a way for websites or companies to get peoples contact info-- emails, and phone numbers and stuff-- I don't want to sound bitter but we aren't planning on entering anymore! We are just focusing on Making AMAZING music, touring like crazy and playing for as many of our FANS as possible!!

For a last question in an interview, Is it hard to be in a band and be successful and focus on living a life? Any advice to aspiring musicians?

Yeah it is really hard, but like with anything that you love, you just keep doing it! We have personal lives, careers, and our music-- so we are usually juggling 3-4 different things at any given time.. Steve and I created this band and we are so proud and happy with where we are, and we are VERY VERY excited for what the future holds. We are heading into a more Electro-Dance world, and are so surprised by the reaction we have gotten in that world. We are doing sets where it's just Steve and I. Steve DJing our tracks and beats and me singing and going crazy! We've adapted ourselves, and streamlined the band so that we can travel more, play shows at a moments notice, and also be able to play shows that we would probably not be able to play as a 4 piece rock band-- which is scary but exciting too... I want to thank you Indi for being there with us, and for us over the years-- and I can't wait for the day we get to meet you and play a show in YOUR TOWN!! rawwwrr!
