M.I.R.V. Live DVD in the works!
If you lived in the Bay Area for a while and have followed the music scene a little, you will be familiar with M.I.R.V.. Even though they never made it into the major leagues, they enjoyed cult status and had (and still have) a hardcore fan base.
Born out of the Primus/Limbomaniacs pool of musicians they were at their peak at around 2001. And that's when they recorded a live show at Slim's. They were on top of their game, playing all their hits including Brian Kehoe's Opera piece "O Sole Mio", guest appearances by Grandpa and Les Claypool (a former member) .
The recordings have been sitting around for years but never got properly mixed. Just recently, the band approached me to mix the audio for the 90min show. What a great way to go back in time! I did go to some of their shows around that time and I definitely remember how insane and great their shows were. It's like a time capsule waiting to see the light of the day again.
They did an elaborate 4 camera shoot and the audio sounds great. The video is still being edited (good things take time), the mixes are almost there and they are planning to put the whole thing out on a DVD, hopefully soon.
