JUNKIES, a Refreshing sound to your ears. Sticking their songs in our head for hours on end with their catchy lyrics. It's nearly impossible to sit still while listening to them! Producer/Lyricist, Cosmo, knows exactly how to get us addicted to his stuff! Genius!

How did the JUNKIES come to be?? When did you all form?

We met in Miami. We were all mutual friends and it seemed like a good idea to join creative forces.

How long have you guys been around?

About 3 years now.

What is the first song you ever did together? Where did you perform it for the first time?

The first song we did together was a song called 'B Boys B Girls'. We played it at Ultra Music Festival in Miami in 2005. At the time some of the members of the group were different.

Is there any bands or artists in particular that influence your sound?

Most early '90s, Dark wave industrial dance, I was a huge fan of a record label called WaxTraxx out of Chicago.

I like My Life With the Thrill Kill Cult, Meat Beat Manifesto, and Font 242.

You said that Cosmo had other projects other than JUNKIES, What else does he do?

I write and produce. I also engineer for a living. And I've been a musician for most of my life. ( www.myspace.com/cosmony )I just remixed Shiny Toy Guns, Femme, Lets Go to War, and I have a HEARTSREVOLUTION remix coming out this summer.

Fan's all seemed to really like 'All the Girls wanna be me', What gave you the idea to write the song? What really sparked the inspiration for it?

My girlfriend. I figured she's the hottest girl and all the girls want to be her.

Is there any main inspiration for your songs??

LIFE, people. I'm really a basic person.I spend a lot of time in the studio working with and/or for musicians and record labels. It's pretty much been that way my entire life. The Junkies would be my 20th project/band I've been in.

Which one of the bands you've been in has had the most success? Any that were a big favorite of the public?

I was in a band signed to Atlantic Records called Muse, back in 1994. We were the original Muse, and after mild success and a tour around the US and Canada four times....we sold our name to the British Muse in 1998.

It looks like you were doing well, What caused that to happen?

With most major labels, they tend to sign several dozen acts/artists a year depending on the size of the record budget for that year. Some bands tour for longer than others, some bands don't get to tour at all......They throw all the bands at radio and the wait to see what the reaction from the general public is. Depending on what that is..requests, etc, they keep you or they don't. That's how the industry was when the internet was just getting started......before myspace, facebook, and other mediums for marketing.

I see that the JUNKIES is getting a good fan base going, are you planning on doing any touring across America anytime soon?

Our record/ep just came out on itunes on a record label. So, we are waiting to see what happens with it, and we hope we get to tour, too.

On your EP, I saw there are three songs, but you have more than that on your myspace, how come those other songs aren't on there?

I tend to write a lot of songs, and in actuality, the Junkies as a whole have about 35 songs. Many of which will never see the light of day. As for the EP. This label wanted to do three songs for $1.99 to target buyers no matter how hard I pushed for five or six....he said it went against the label's marketing plan.

Earlier in the interview you said that there were different members when the JUNKIES had gotten together, Who isnt in the band anymore? What Happened?

A few of us decided to move to New York. There are too many to mention.[Who didn't come]

And as an end to the interview...Do you have any advice to give to aspiring musicians?

Ahhh...this is a hard one to put into words.I always try to do my best to listen to new music no matter where it is coming from because you never know what might inspire you.

Check out the JUNKIES on myspace ( myspace.com/cosmosjunkies ). The EP is available now on iTunes and Pistol Records.
