Bay Area Music Producers Battle for Red Bull Big Tune Title
Red Bull Big Tune hits Historic Sweets Ballroom in Oakland (1933 Broadway) this Thursday, May 29th @ 7:30pm with a beatsmith battle royale. Oakland marks the second stop in a series of eight regional beat competitions designed to find the most talented U.S. producer with the next "big tune." Twelve producers will be called to battle at each regional qualifier. There is a suggested donation of $5 to benefit youth programming at deFremery park (@ 18th and Adeline) however, no one will be turned away if they cannot pay.
Battle-ready producers, beatsmiths, and sound-architects from San Francisco and Oakland who have original music, talent and desire to take their passion to the next level will be there.
The Town will be bouncing to fresh beats when the premiere music producer battle known as Red Bull Big Tune hits Oakland this month with a beatsmith battle royale. Oakland marks the second stop in a series of eight regional beat competitions designed to find the most talented U.S. producer with the next big tune. Twelve beatsmiths will be called to battle at each regional qualifier.
The winner of the finals receives custom studio equipment and an opportunity to collaborate with a recording artist of his/her choice in the prestigious Red Bull Studios/ Santa Monica, Calif. Last year’s Red Bull Big Tune winner opted to work with Young Buck. Other artists available for collaboration were Redman and Talib Kweli.
Other regional battles will be hosted in Philadelphia, Houston, Detroit, Chicago, Seattle, Washington, DC, and Long Beach, Calif. The top 2 producers from each city will square-off in December 2008 at the Red Bull Big Tune National Championships in New York City.
