San Francisco’s acoustic surf rock group Bag of Toys will be releasing their highly anticipated sophomore album “Afternooner” internationally on July 1, 2008. Recorded at Gadgetbox Studios in Santa Cruz, the full-length album was self-produced by the band and mastered by John Cuniberti (Dave Matthews, The Grateful Dead, Aerosmith), featuring 13 infectious tracks musically ranging everywhere from acoustic reggae to surf rock.

“Afternooner” features a fresh sound that Bag of Toys has made completely their own. Featuring two acoustic guitars, the music offers a relaxed vibe supported by a catchy groove and a rock-oriented rhythm section. Riding on the success of their debut album “Nooner,” Bag of Toys hit the studio again to give fans their highly-anticipated second full-length album. After a recent music licensing deal with surfing website Reelcomp.com, and presales coming in not only across the nation, but from various countries all over the world, the album sales are expected to reach new heights.

“Our first album was fairly minimalist with a guitar or two and pretty simple bass and drum lines, but with very catchy melodic hooks. ‘Afternooner’ will have keys, percussion, more guitar layering, and even a trumpet on a tune. The sound is fuller and more mature. We’re all excited about the early response it’s getting,” shares drummer Robert Stadler.

In 2006, the Bay Area group released their debut full-length album “Nooner” propelling them to the top of the rankings for unsigned artists on MySpace.com. In less than one year from its release, the album was sold nationally and in over 20 different countries. In 2007, “Share,” one of the band’s original songs from “Nooner,” was prominently featured on a national TV commercial for the Microsoft Zune media player.
