100% FREE SHOW = ALKALINE TRIO AT CAFE DU NORD APRIL 7th
It all started as a cloudless San Francisco morning, gorgeous blue skies. Perfect for our long awaited April 7th show with Alkaline Trio and American Steel.
It was to be Fuzz.com's biggest event to date, a users-only show at the Cafe du Nord with the Alkaline Trio. The "Trio" easily sells out venues of 2500 or more- and has not had a hometown Bay Area show in over three years. Fans had to win one of the coveted 60 pairs of tickets to the 200 person capacity venue in order to gain admission to the exclusive show. Though there were strict instructions that NO tickets or entry would be granted to NON-winners (per the fire marshall of San Francisco), a line of over 300 kids had formed by 8pm, in hopes of some how getting in.
These hopeful fans were served mini-corndogs and quisidillas by Fuzz interns, dressed in Fuzz t-shirts. Fuzz napkins, handbills with free downloads available on Fuzz.com, and Fuzz badges made the wait somewhat fun, as well as a projected video on the wall above the line, featuring live action goats, our Fuzz.com goat, the Fuzz.com blimp and an animated goat montage showcasing the new local page (this included our trademark stuffed goat merch pieces and the Golden Gate Bridge). Kids in the line were all very familiar with Fuzz.com, and many knew all about our new "local" launch already.
At 8:30pm, I ended up letting the hardcore 175 kids that were still outside the gig in- for free. Not one person was charged a penny. These fans were jumping up and down, pledging their love for Fuzz.com, and that they would spread the word far and wide. Some kids were in groups, and had enough for some, but not all in their contingent to get in. One threesome had traveled all the way from Salt Lake City in the hopes of getting in. They were so thrilled at the chance to see their idols in such a small venue (they even all had identical Alkaline Trio tats).
Over 300 people ended up being admitted to the show! The band played for over an hour, both new and old material, to a VERY enthusiastic show. After the gig, fans were coming up to Fuzz employees, wanting to touch us, and thank us VERY gratefully for putting on such an incredible event.
We created a poster especially for this show, and the fans were ecstatic to receive such a great piece of art to commemorate the show.
Next up: May 10th, we are planning an art show, featuring work by members of dredg and Coheed and Cambria.
