The Sounds.. Amazing, Fun, Creative, Talented, Unique...What is there NOT to say about this band? They provide us with AWESOME lyrics and music that goes right along with it. Fans find a comfy little nook in the words, and hold hands with the music. The Sounds paint a story in our head with every last note spelled out, helping us through fights with someone you dislike, confronting someone highly cared for, and realizing your falling in love with someone. Once you hear this band, I am sure you will be falling in love with them. Mature in that fun way, this band blends guitar, Synths, and pop-punk to perfection.
They have had every ones attention from day one, when their debut album Living in America hit stores, and stating in the albums title song how they march to the beat of their own drum, not the 'sex sells' motto of America, and they have their own concerns, They aren't going to carry the weight of the world on their shoulders and let everything affect them. The Bands next single was a hard-hitter, wow-ing everyone with the song 'Song With a Mission', Which is now featured on the hit game Rock Band.
Now, as a fan, I am COMPLETELY sold on this band. I remember the first time I heard one of their songs. It was 'Queen of Apology', the Patrick Stump remix for the movie Snakes On a Plane soundtrack...Which WAS the best part of the whole bit. The lyrics were to die for, and I immediately looked the band up. It's so hard to pick out favorite songs, because this band is just.....BRILLIANT, absolutely brilliant. Their hit song 'Painted By Numbers' has me by the hair, I never get tired of the song. I've put it on repeat and listened to it for 2 days straight before I changed it to another one of The Sound's songs, Ha-ha. When I listen to 'Painted By Numbers', I want to dance to it. it feels like if I dance, all my problems will go away. It's definitely a break-up song, though. I mean, We'll be the same tomorrow, Cause we've all been Painted by Numbers, We're dancing as we borrow, You said It was love, I said I want you to be mine to I got what I need to get by. The song is leading us through a relationship, Painting (haha) it all out in bright colors. I'm sure you'll love it.
One of the band's many amazing songs I really suggest listening to would be 'Rock'N Roll'. It's a kind of 'fed up with relationships' song. It's like lead singer Maja Ivarrson is confiding in us, telling us a story. It somewhat sounds like it's telling us how there is someone out there you like but you shouldn't, and the temptation of doing something wrong when your meeting a ton of people who practically throw themselves at you, and the ability to do things repeatedly other people would love to do. Rock'N Roll is the real relationship for this song, if you look at it, looking for something more then love, and saying that living life on the road isn't at all how we think it is, because it makes having a real relationship that much harder, so we look for happiness and stay devoted to that one thing that has you away, I gave my heart to Rock'N Roll. It's a really eye opening song. It's a song you can connect to, for many different reasons.
But unfortunately, there is only ONE song that is SOMEWHAT flawed. Whoa, wait, WHAT? Yes, one song, but ONLY one song, and the chorus is actually quite catchy. It has the same basic taste to be associated with the band's unique flavor, but there's something different to it all the same. If you listen and get use to the other amazing songs off the album Dying to Say This to You, this one will make you scrunch your face and think, "Now what on earth." And as much as I am..well, 'RIPPING' on the song, it truly does grow on you. Not going to be one of your FAVORITES of the band, but you won't completely despise it. All in all, the band is definitely a legend in the making. If your really into the bands who use a lot of synth and are considered New-Wave, The Sounds is the band your looking for, and if your just looking for a new band to fall in love with, I highly doubt you'll find it hard to with this band. Their addicting, their amazing, they leave us hungering for more, and right as we are recovering from the hit they have laid on us, they come back with another, even better album! I can't wait to hear their next album is coming out. The band might be in and out of the spot light taking a long time to release another album and leaving us dazed with the last one in the mean time, but their fans are loyal , and their sound will have you falling in love with them. Their lyrics will be that friend you need to call just to rant to that makes you feel a bit better after a long day. I've definitely given MY heart to Rock'n Roll, how about you?
