You know box sets? When they consist of CDs they are called CD box sets. E.g. 4 CDs featuring an anthology of The Fluorescing Easy Orange Peel, or 3 CDs portraying North American retail stores slave workers folk singing, or whatever.

So it's clear these things are called CD Box Sets.

Now what's the insider- or professional word for the box that contains the CDs? Of course we normally would say "box" or "carton". But when I enter stuff like "CD Box" or "CD carton" in google, all it gives me are either these slimcase / jewelbox thingies, or bigger boxes where people put in their 30 pieces CD collection.

I need to buy these boxes because I'm producing a CD sampler, albeit in a small number, hence I cannot afford to go to a printer and tell him "get me those boxes that contain box sets". I don't even wanna print on them, just the boxes.

Does anyone have an idea what these boxes are called so I can find offers on google or ebay?

Hi there, I recommend you give a listen to Mr Henry Finch from Boone in North Carolina. He is a mastermind at writing and performing traditionally sounding but extremely modern pop songs, which on piano and vocals combine some cool styles of ragtime, jazz, blues, influences from Dr John, Professor Longhair, The Beatles and other cool stuff. The melodies and lyrics are pure fun and passion.

You heard of Persistence of Memory? No, we’re not speaking of the Dali painting or any obscure Krautrock records named after that painting. We are speaking of this spoiled untalented kid from Lexington SC:
This guy actually considers himself very talented and will try to take part in competitions like American Idol and everybody will be laughing about him. He already feels special, with the head in the clouds. That's the worst approach!
You won't believe it, he already got two albums out and for sale:
But the spirit of this site is not to encourage people without talent. Some creeps are even telling him he is the incarnation of John Lennon. Everybody is disappointed!!! How could Persistence of Memory do this to us, now we are all crying! Sniffle sniffle...

The 3rd Street Butcher's "GODS QUEENS, QUEENS & PAWNS draws from "New Music" or "Contemporary Classical Music"
(quote from Wikipedia about "New Music": Contemporary classical music can be understood as belonging to a period that started in the mid-1970s with the retreat of modernism.[1] However the term may also be employed in a broader sense to refer to the post-1945 modern forms of post-tonal music from the death of Anton Webern[2] (including serial music, Concrete music, experimental music, etc.)
as well as from experimental pop (as in Scott Walker and the llike),
but still remains urban street hip hop.

Patronizing comments are ugly. I will, and you can, use this blog as a means to anonymously deconstruct such comments - please don't state names or blog links. It seems that the protagonists of patronizing comments in most cases aren’t even aware of the fact that they use these methods.
To give you an example of what I’m talking about:
User Joe makes a statement of content “A”.
User Jim comments: “ I don’t agree with Joe’s statement of content “B”. “B” is wrong, because... “
So Jim either did not read properly that Joe said “A” and not “B”. Or Jim did not understand that Joe said “A” and not “B”. Or Jim does not want to deal with content “A” because “A” is evil or complicated or a different opinion. Or... or...; well there are many possible reasons for patronizing comments, often interwoven in one single comment.

Having re-read some of TheCapitalClinics' "older" nightschool blogs it occurred to me that we should have a function on Fuzz which shows all blogs which have had recent comments. E.g. someone wrote a blog in 2007 and someone comments today, the link to that blog will appear in this register.
So if there are blogs with an enduring value plus a current relevance they will be easy to find. It would look similar to the Top 10 Blogs, but it's main focus would be different from the top 10 blogs, e.g. it will include more long-lasting philosophical stuff which due to its nature would not make it into a top 10 of blogs. But it would also be useful for easier content which still is designed for continous pursuit, whether it's someone publishing photographs of their kitten growing up to a cat, or topics which need careful development over a longer period of time, e.g. discussing recording contract constructions.
What do you think?

http://www.fuzz.com/fan/tibii/blog/entry/Recreated-music-genre-tags#comments

Did you notice that some music genre tags are recreated over the decades?
For example R&B in the fifties meant something crossing over from Blues to Rock'n'Roll, mostly played by former blues musicians, then in the sixties it meant Beat Bands playing covers of the former type, or own songs in that style, in the seventies it could have been a funky soul musician, in the eighties tricky and ambitious pop soul, in the nineties 16 year old boys humming kitsch melodies for girlie fans, now maybe it's some kind of hip hop funk rock crossover.
Or Hardcore: This expression is used for styles ranging from a fast type of punk rock to a speeded up disco-techno with Mickey Mouse voices on top of it.
Or Bubblegum: This encompasses as diverse artists as The Ohio Express and Beyonce.
I think it's funny, and I wonder what R&B, Hardcore and Bubblegum will stand for in 20 years.

Hey you underground freaks, what about having a big collaboration to write a FUZZ musical?
Like users (writers, musicians, whoever) thinking up a plot, different musicians writing very different types of songs and non-musicians helping with the lyrics.
As Fuzz includes such a broad range of people the plot could encompass an equally broad range of experiences in society and hence could reach the emotions of many different kinds of people.
IF it's good!
Surely there's something true in the saying "Too many cooks spoil the broth", but such difficulties could be overcome if there's enough broad-mindedness and not-begrudging-others'-better-ideas spirit involved.
If things get too diverse we could split it and simply write two musicals ;-)

Mixed flavor, who's taste? from the UK is some kind of a punky DJ Mix genius. "Punky" not in the sense of the musical "genre", but in the sense of a fresh and boldfaced attitude towards what one is supposed to do. This lady has a carefree approach to her fun mixes, something you don't get to hear very often. The last time I remember was when Danger Mouse created his The Grey Album with the very same approach, combining ingeniously The Beatles' White Album and Jay-Z's The Black Album. And don't you ever get the idea Mixed flavor, who's taste? would try to recreate Danger Mouse's efforts.
