blog Why is FUZZ cooler?

Hmmm, I do know that FUZZ is cooler than other online communities and big music websites I have seen so far. I haven't seen them all, but looked at quite a lot. At one of the others I'm actually a user too, I must admit.

When I see e.g. five websites of one musician, and of those one is at FUZZ and the other four are on other platforms, I catch myself thinking "that guy should concentrate more on his FUZZ account than on his other profiles".

Of course there are problems to be resolved, for example that you cannot access an album you want to purchase in the store, unless it's featured (now that's what I call an anti-capitalist attitude ;-) ! ).

Sooooooo, folks: I am quite sure that FUZZ is cooler, but I cannot really describe why.

As I cannot explain this properly, I would like to ask you: Why do you think FUZZ is cooler than "whatever.com"?

I think they definately got more "TALENT" here. Seasoned artists seem to show up here more so than other sites. I also like the communication here between artists.

Tibii, I am intrigued by your question but hope you haven’t started fuzz down the path of becoming ”uncool”.

I have also been reflecting on what is, indeed, the elusive quality that defines the Kingdom of Cool since we all would pay a king's ransom to have it regardless of age or standing in what we otherwise choose to do in life. According to a comprehensive piece in wikipedia about the aesthetic of COOL, that wag of a magazine, the New Yorker, said about “coolhunt” that -

(1) “The act of discovering what’s cool is what causes cool to move on.”

(2) “Cool cannot be manufactured, only observed.”

(3) ”[Cool] can only be observed by those who are themselves cool.” [NB: it’s interesting that the editor put the last [Cool] in brackets – pretty clever and typical New Yorker style!]

The wiki-article then goes on to highlight the dllemma about discovering "Cool" with a Simpson conversation that is [Cool] - I think :=): Homer: So, I realized that being with my family is more important than being cool. Bart: Dad, what you just said was powerfully uncool. Homer: You know what the song says: "It's hip to be square". Lisa: That song is so lame. Homer: So lame that it's... cool? Bart+Lisa: No. Marge: Am I cool, kids? Bart+Lisa: No. Marge: Good. I'm glad. And that's what makes me cool, not caring, right? Bart+Lisa: No. Marge: Well, how the hell do you be cool? I feel like we've tried everything here. Homer: Wait, Marge. Maybe if you're truly cool, you don't need to be told you're cool. Bart: Well, sure you do. Lisa: How else would you know?

Great Simpson stuff that brings to mind my own blog question that you may not have had a chance to stumble upon yet: Are You Hot or Cool, Both [or Neither]? which I think is relevant and [Cool].

In the final analysis, as I mentioned elsewhere, cool is bestowed by coolcats like The3rdStreetButcher and not manufactured. Let’s hope fuzz stays on the right path to get there. It’s early days, but [Cool] - I think. Have fun and be [....].

TCC, I had read your blog "Are You Hot or Cool, Both [or Neither]?" As so often with your blogs it takes me some time to contemplate about it. I somewhat shied away from commenting that blog, because my answer would have been more like a book than like a comment, as the blog encompasses a lot of interesting topics regarding pop, society, pop in society, society in pop etc.

I think the Simpsons dialog is more up-to-date and adequately differentiated than the New Yorker quote, but as it's only a quote I don't want to be unfair.

I had this issue when first signing up.
A friend from a top band on here showed it to me in it's starting stages and told me to sign up. Now at first I was like "I already have MySpace! why do I need this?". After signing up for some reason (best thing ever done) I started to explore it more and liked it. I think it's all because even though it's getting bigger and filled with more users, it's still intimate and cool. I can totally spot you somewhere and go "hey you're tibii on fuzz!" and actually have a convo with you about something you wrote, and you can do the same to me cause we have the ability to establish ourselves and not just be a "34757345435643th friend" on someones profile that we said "sup" to once.

Depression, I agree, they must fix their store system - fast!

Miss Bella, I assume that when it's getting bigger there will be several informal sub-groups and cliques, so it still will be intimate and cool. Hopefully these sub-groups will not be divisions on the basis of musical genres (trad-rockers among themselves, punks among themselves, hip-hoppers among themselves...), that would be uncool.

well, i try to put my music in the vast internet sea of music and new music sites as much as possible. I don't check this one as often as others, but maybee i should be paying more attention here.... ....anyway, here's one cooler thing about FUZZ: it's the only one that ever got me a paying gig.
