You know box sets? When they consist of CDs they are called CD box sets. E.g. 4 CDs featuring an anthology of The Fluorescing Easy Orange Peel, or 3 CDs portraying North American retail stores slave workers folk singing, or whatever.

So it's clear these things are called CD Box Sets.

Now what's the insider- or professional word for the box that contains the CDs? Of course we normally would say "box" or "carton". But when I enter stuff like "CD Box" or "CD carton" in google, all it gives me are either these slimcase / jewelbox thingies, or bigger boxes where people put in their 30 pieces CD collection.

I need to buy these boxes because I'm producing a CD sampler, albeit in a small number, hence I cannot afford to go to a printer and tell him "get me those boxes that contain box sets". I don't even wanna print on them, just the boxes.

Does anyone have an idea what these boxes are called so I can find offers on google or ebay?

Try CD packaging.

What I mean is the simple carton box where the 3 or 4 CDs are contained in. Look at my sample pic

What I mean is the box in the upper lefthand side. I need to buy me such boxes, be it plastic or cardboard.
Mehdi, if I go to a printer and say "get me those boxes" he surely knows a producer who produces them especially for me. And that would cost about five or seven times as much as if I could buy industrially pre-fabricated mass products. Hence I could not afford it.

You will also probably need to specify '4 color' etc. when shopping but definitely look up CD packaging.

FaThEaD I did try that (in German so to find German retailers) but that only brought results for mail / courier sending, not boxes people could put into their CD shelf.

Try google both german and english results and then try uline.com they are the sponsored link. Under that the companies in English should definately want overseas [and channel] customers. Uline has like 15,000 products. I don't mean to plug them. But this should help.

I always just thought it was a Box Set because what you are talking about is already included. I never thought of your question. That's interesting!
