Hi there, I recommend you give a listen to Mr Henry Finch from Boone in North Carolina. He is a mastermind at writing and performing traditionally sounding but extremely modern pop songs, which on piano and vocals combine some cool styles of ragtime, jazz, blues, influences from Dr John, Professor Longhair, The Beatles and other cool stuff. The melodies and lyrics are pure fun and passion. http://henryfinch.fuzz.com/
You heard of Persistence of Memory? No, we’re not speaking of the Dali painting or any obscure Krautrock records named after that painting. We are speaking of this spoiled untalented kid from Lexington SC: http://persistenceofmemory.fuzz.com/ This guy actually considers himself very talented and will try to take part in competitions like American Idol and everybody will be laughing about him. He already feels special, with the head in the clouds. That's the worst approach! You...
Hey folks do me a favor and check this guy's website on Fuzz: http://www.fuzz.com/fan/Duardo and please also listen to what he posts on Blip: http://www.fuzz.com/blip/user/Duardo He has an excellent knowledge of Brazilian underground rap and similar styles. Not that I know more about this scene than that I love this gorgeous music, but that's sufficient for me to recommend to anyone to follow this guy's musical taste. He also obviously is a friendly human being.
The 3rd Street Butcher's "GODS QUEENS, QUEENS & PAWNS draws from "New Music" or "Contemporary Classical Music" (quote from Wikipedia about "New Music": Contemporary classical music can be understood as belonging to a period that started in the mid-1970s with the retreat of modernism.[1] However the term may also be employed in a broader sense to refer to the post-1945 modern forms of post-tonal music from the death of Anton Webern[2] (including serial...
Decreptic are sensational in the sense that they combine effortlessly the real heavy stuff as in grindcore, hardcore and death metal with an uplifting sense of funtime and pop enjoyment. Now don't mistake this: they don't make any concessions to superficiality. They just don't pose, they rock. And all this rock goes along with a big chunk of loud and anarchistic punkiness.
If you can stand it watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8P2CWQDfL0 It shows the most embarrasing casting candidates of Germany's equivalent to "American Idol". Though I must admit I had to laugh myself, I wonder if this is taking things too far. Not that I think these guys will retain any traumata or harm from taking part in corporate TV making fun of them, they obviously enjoy being stars for a day. Some of them even got recording contracts. What leaves an...
Patronizing comments are ugly. I will, and you can, use this blog as a means to anonymously deconstruct such comments - please don't state names or blog links. It seems that the protagonists of patronizing comments in most cases aren’t even aware of the fact that they use these methods. To give you an example of what I’m talking about: User Joe makes a statement of content “A”. User Jim comments: “ I don’t agree with Joe’s statement of content “B”. “B” is wrong...
Shanna Waters writes catchy and inspired pop songs of the finest quality. Her best songs are as good as Oasis, the easier songs of The Velvet Underground, Inspiral Carpets and Beatles, to name a few "comparisons", which shall only give an impression of which type of pop we are speaking here. While her current recordings do not have the best equipment available, the songs and her way of performing them still shine through this and indicate what the future of this amazing talent...
Having re-read some of TheCapitalClinics' "older" nightschool blogs it occurred to me that we should have a function on Fuzz which shows all blogs which have had recent comments. E.g. someone wrote a blog in 2007 and someone comments today, the link to that blog will appear in this register. So if there are blogs with an enduring value plus a current relevance they will be easy to find. It would look similar to the Top 10 Blogs, but it's main focus would be different from...
Did you notice that some music genre tags are recreated over the decades? For example R&B in the fifties meant something crossing over from Blues to Rock'n'Roll, mostly played by former blues musicians, then in the sixties it meant Beat Bands playing covers of the former type, or own songs in that style, in the seventies it could have been a funky soul musician, in the eighties tricky and ambitious pop soul, in the nineties 16 year old boys humming kitsch melodies for girlie fans...
Well I've just heard a German language radio drama which was unusually intelligent, amusing and contemporary. Of course under these pre-conditions it couldn't be by a German author, and right, it turned out to be a translated play from a New York writer named Diana Amsterdam. Have you ever heard about her? I'm quite enthusiastic I must admit.
Hey you underground freaks, what about having a big collaboration to write a FUZZ musical? Like users (writers, musicians, whoever) thinking up a plot, different musicians writing very different types of songs and non-musicians helping with the lyrics. As Fuzz includes such a broad range of people the plot could encompass an equally broad range of experiences in society and hence could reach the emotions of many different kinds of people. IF it's good! Surely there's something...
In order to avoid the content getting lost, I will put masterpieces of written word which I discovered on Fuzz into this blog. If you find blogs or comments that you think should be secured for future generations, why not post them here too? (Note: Please do not post your own or your band's / artist profile's writings!) The top or bottom line should state the author's link.
Mixed flavor, who's taste? from the UK is some kind of a punky DJ Mix genius. "Punky" not in the sense of the musical "genre", but in the sense of a fresh and boldfaced attitude towards what one is supposed to do. This lady has a carefree approach to her fun mixes, something you don't get to hear very often. The last time I remember was when Danger Mouse created his The Grey Album with the very same approach, combining ingeniously The Beatles' White Album and...
Is This?? Yes this is some of the coolest music to be found online. Artist "Is This??" from Canada is one of the (in a positive sense) maddest and inventive musicians currently around. He combines the very best of hardcore, sixties avantgarde-psychedelic and chaos-punk with an extremely relaxed and uncopyable personal style. Ever since I accidentally discovered him on FUZZ I'm utterly fascinated by each of his strokes of genius. Apart of that it's simply utmost listening...
