Not to be all reactionary, but the recent disaster in Minneapolis reaffirms our need for a reappraisal of America's roads, bridges, and public works in general. How can something like this happen in the world's most powerful nation? Perhaps, as my colleague Paul Barker has suggested, we should force the largest corporations to pay taxes more appropriate to their levels of profits (and not just siphon them off into off shore bank accounts and CEO benefit packages) and then have more money to pay for repairs. But then we'd have to make sure the repairs actually happened and the money didn't just line the coffers of some crooked contractors.....oh, the problems......think I'll just go crank up my guit-box and escape for a while....

Ted Nugent played here in Nashville the other night...nothing unusual there....he peppered his show with right wing rants.....nothing unusual there either.....but does anyone besides me find it ironic that Mr Nugent can present himself as a right wing war hawk when his actual record shows that he never served in the military, never went to Vietnam, etc even though he was plenty old enough to do so? Why is it that all these self-proclaimed pundits (Limbaugh, O'Reilly, W, etc) are all draft dodgers? How do they get away with it?

Hey Y'all---

Check out UK soul/r&b songstress Beverley Knight's new album 'Music City Soul' on Parlophone/EMI. Why, you ask? Because in addition to being a classic old school soul album (recorded right here in Music City) it features the fretwork of yours truly! That's right, me, Silverback, played guitar on every song--along with Nashville studio ace Jim "Wah wah" Long and Ron Wood (yes,THAT Ron Wood). It was produced by Marky Nevers (also a Fuzz friend) at Beech House studios last October/November.

Well, we've had another mass murder in the USA. Is it time for gun control yet? If bartenders can be sued by the victims of drunk drivers, mabe the vendors of weapons should be sued by the victims of shootings such as this...

And how about our illustrious president and his response? First, he offers his condolences, then in the same breath states his position on 'the constitutional right to bear arms'. Not only is this stupid and insensitive to the victims and their families, it show how beholden Bush is to the NRA/Bible Brigade. He can't even make a simple gesture of solace without clarifying his stand because his fear of being misunderstood by his semi-literate followers is so great.

And as for the 'constitutional right to bear arms', well, the constitution was written about 230-some years ago. Citizens of our country were few in number, they were in constant fear of attack by foreign powers, hostile natives, and predatory animals. There was no standing army, no navy, no police force, etc. Bearing arms was the only option. Obviously, things have changed. And isn't it funny how Bush hides behind the very constitution he tries to re-write? Unbelievable....
