I am Roxy Epoxy. No, it's not my real name, but it works. I answer to it. I've listened to music for as long as I can remember.I have a college degree in photography with a lot of focus on women's studies. I graduated in 1996 and started my career. I could say that I succeeded in that career with a nice, stable staff job. I had benefits. I had income. Then music continued taking me over. It was time to stop just singing in the car. I left my nice, safe career to do music. I sang and wrote for a band called the Epoxies. For those of you who don't know, the Epoxies are finished and I've got a new project with tons of new songs. More on that as it develops.I'm a rocker girl. Pussy power.
The path has been blazed and it has been blazed well by Joan Jett, Debbie Harry, Penelope Houston, Exene Cervenka, Patty Smith, Theo Kogan, Kathleen Hanna, Sinéad O'Connor, and countless others.I like psychology. In our punk scene, we'd like to think that we view things differently and are more open-minded than the norm, but it often seems this is very much not the case. Not everyone likes everything and that's the way it should be. Isn't creativity and art being stifled enough these days without superficial attitude getting in the way? We need all the boundary pushing we can get from all sides.
Now, isn't that really why you got into punk rock in the first place?I have my own radio show in Portland called 'Roxy's Ego Hour' which airs every Monday at 5:00 PM PST. Live streaming can be found at www.kpsu.org.All archives are always at http://archive.kpsu.org/audio/by/artist/roxy_epoxy
Starting Thursday June 19th. I'm going to extend my program to the amazing world of Blip.fm
Every Thursday from 7:00-8:00 PM PST I'll be there playing the music that feeds my timid side with emotions bent on stimulating that Ego that dwells in us all. I really hope to interact with people during this weekly episode of music, ranting and fun. The future of radio is here and now everyone can voice their minds .I know I will.As the show develops, I'll be giving neat prizes away to those who fulfill the task of whatever little games I decide to play. Prizes have yet to be decided and will vary for sure. I can tell you that they'll be somewhere between a trip to the moon and a moon pie.I look forward to hearing from you!! Again, 'ROXY'S EGO HOUR' every Thursday from 7:00-8:00 PM PST at Blip.fm
