I loved Rolling Stone when they were paying me to talk to my friends and write it down. Hey! That's what I do now, too!
Seriously, sometimes freelance writers won't go to an extreme one way or the other with that kind of thing because they're afraid their article will get axed. They do have some great folks over there, like Jason Fine. But, I hear you. A rating can become meaningless if there's no scale. That's why I'm rating your blog with three stars.
here's a snip of an interview w/ Steve Lukater where he talks about rolling stone:
"I respect people, people that are so fucking good, much better than me. But they won't get heard because there is no place for them to get heard. I've been on Essential Guitarist, and I know guys like Greg Howe and Ritchie Kotzen - these guys should be superstars! I used to like Rolling Stone, when I was young and ignorant. OH! Anyway, they just seem so far behind in what is new. Half the time their 'new artists' are people I heard of at least a year ago, and it kind of bothers me.
I don't really read their reviews nor their other articles because I just don't think they really appreciate talent, but more of the money they make from getting paid to place artists in their magazine.
Well, I'm assuming thats how they operate. Haha.

Anyways, I just gave myself five stars, so it looks like a four star average, despite your best efforts.
And I like Paste. Paste has good taste. For rock and rock related substances. Not fans of the hip-hop, electronic, or polka, I think.
