i was furious about how myspace got caught censoring it's users who posted bulletins about presidential candidates that aren't approved by newscorp. i also don't like the fact that their music player sucks so bad. And i especially hate the ads with the half naked girls on every page. if that's what it takes to keep in business for them, i am not interested in helping them out. no more.

however, the idea of just deleting my myspace profile seemed a bit scary. i put a lot of work into finding old friends and i'm sure many of you are in the same boat. so i had a better idea.

i changed my myspace profile "about me" to this:

"Hi friends! I decided i will not check this myspace account any more . i'm doing all my social networking over at fuzz.com from now on now.

honestly, i'm much happier with the features of fuzz.com because i mostly use this site for music anyway. right? plus at fuzz.com they don't have these sexist ads all over my screen while i'm just trying to send a message to my friends. and they don't have a political bias owned by newscorp.

i am not accepting messages, or comments, or friend requests on myspace anymore. but you know where to find me.

then i went into my privacy settings in myspace and set my "away message" to say the same thing. now nobody can send a message to my account.
perfect.

next i set it so "all comments must be approved" before they show up, and thus my myspace page is rendered moot. the only "people" still trying to add me as a friend are porn-spam-bots. no thanks, but thanks for the offer "ladies". :)

i didn't think doctors did that.

i know this sounds tragic, but it was actually the best thing that has ever happened to me. let me count the ways:

1) i kept my music blog going. i do a music blog called pacificnoise.com and i have continued to interview bands over the phone from my bed. i have been able to feel conected to my music community even though i can't leave my room.

2) my family and i are closer than we have ever been before . i was a troublesome teen and i rarely ever spent time at home before i left for college. now my family and i are a team and we openly express how proud we are of each other , our love for one another, and we have shared stories that i never thought i would know or tell. like how my mother gave birth to me without the use of any pain medicine, i never knew that isn't that amazing? my dad used to play drums in high school marching band, sooo we set up a "drum set" with cardboard boxes and my walker. i have my guitar, and we've been rocking out. he's 50 and i said " you know dad my favorite band sonic youth is your age". i never knew my dad could rock like such a bad ass.

3) i wrote words to all my new songs. i haven't written any lyrics for a while. singing is a good alternative to moping when you can't get out of bed.

4) i joined a Presidential Campaign team. if you haven't heard of Mike Gravel yet, you have to look at www.gravel2008.us i built their video podcast. he is being ignored by the mainstream media of course, but he speaks the truth. he wants to end the war by passing a new law that would FINE GEORGE W BUSH $1,000,000 PER DAY UNTIL HE GOT ALL THE TROOPS HOME. how cool is that?

5) i got really healthy. i got off sugar, nicotine, thc, and caffine.
of course i am on morphine for my broken leg, so i guess that's not really fair. but i used to drink 4 cokes a day, and eat a bunch of candy, and i lived off of cheese and bread (pizza, and quesadillas) . now i examine each thing i put in my body and think about how it will affect my recovery. when you have to plan in advance how and when you're going to get out of bed to poop, you think a lot more about how much of the stuff you're eating is going to turn into nutrients your body can use. just out of curiosity i drank a coke the other day for the first time in a month and it honestly tasted like windex to me. ewwww.

6) i have gotten in touch with so many of my old friends. all those people that seemed like i would never see them again. i have re-kindled old friendships and shared old stories . i never would have had time for these people

7) now i also wrote a business plan. it's going to be big. oh boy you wait.
