blog Push to Talk
Man, I'm really enjoying this band from Oakland. I can't put my finger on it, but these guys remind me of the Smiths, the Police, Depeche, and maybe the Outfield all mixed together - perhaps a little Style Council? The tune "Problems" has a really cool bass line with that off-beat "Roxanne" pulse - totally can hear the Andy Summers flavoring... good stuff. These guys can also really pull off complicated groove changes and throw in a few Steely Dan chord changes like in the chorus of "Talk is Cheap." I would like to check these guys at the Rickshaw Stop tomorrow... anyone up for it?

I've known James for years and this band since it started. They are the real deal. Tom the lead singer of Royalty plays drums for them. Local music is alive and well.

I reallly want to go see them tomorrow, I actually sent PM's to a bunch of people here on the site about this show because I wanted a bunch of Fuzz people to go... but then I remembered that Andrea already got us tickets to see Eek-a-Mouse at the same time at Slim's. Maybe I'll be able to check out the end of their set at least? Oh well, I'm sure they'll play again.

Yeah, they're cool... I got to catch 'em a few months ago at the Oakland Metro:

The Fuzz dynamic takes many amazing twists and turns. What is going on here? It's 3:35 am and we still want to see it in action and talk about it!
