blog Maldroid Plays at a Rave in SF
Maldroid had a great show last night at a rave here in SF. I had never been to the venue before - essentially it was a converted warehouse near Potrero Hill. There were three bands that played downstairs and there were DJs spinning upstairs - apparently the party went until 6AM... but I couldn't last that long. Maldroid went on at around 2AM and absolutely rocked the house. While there was much drunken bafoonery in the crowd, bottles flying around, and people wiping out and falling on top of each other, it only added to the crazy party atmosphere. Maldroid played for about 45 minutes and got the crowd fired up. Ryan was spinning the microphone cable like a weapon and was climbing on top of the PA system - nothing out of the norm - and the crowd seem to love it. At one point, I thought I was going to get mauled by some girl that was twirling around the room, bouncing off the walls like she was possessed (or due to other reasons) - I guess music (and other things) can do that to you...

It was great to see so many people out at a random warehouse in the middle of nowhere supporting local music... we need more of this to happen more often.

I agree that local venues and music live creates a magical sense of community. But about possessed girls bouncing off walls, I dunno.
I guess, like everything else in life, too much of a good thing, can become too much, and thus, a bad thing. Go figure.

dude. what a crazy show! 2 hours behind schedule, but i don't think peeps were trippin to much. It's all a bit of a blur (the promoter took very good care of us) but it seemed like some real rock and roll! glad to see you out man!

I was really proud of the boys considering we were working with perhaps the worst soundman in the history of music. great bands play through the worst conditions and I feel we prevailed.
