blog Check Out: "Before the Music Dies"
I just recently saw a documentary called "Before the Music Dies" about the current music industry, it's problems, and where it's headed. The movie was put together by two music fans who went across the country to learn why the industry is so screwed up. There were some great interviews with Erykah Badu, Branford Marsalis, Dave Matthews, and others. Most of the commentary was from the perspective of the artists and how their lives have been adversely affected by the major labels.

You should definitely check this out. I found the film to be particularly inspiring. It's amazing to note that, despite having their careers being completely turned upside-down and getting screwed-over in many cases, artists were unwilling to give-up and kept pursuing their lifelong dreams to promote their music as ART, not for financial objectives. Many of the artists were completely fine having simple lives in order to pursue their dreams of making music that was meaningful to them and the fans that support them.
