This is my show. When I say my, I don't mean in the normal actor way of "I'm in this show" I mean this is my baby. From conception to now. It's been the thing I've been talking about since last summer and now it's finally time. So Come down to Santa Cruz and check it. You think you've seen theater? Not like this you haven't. I promise.

I'm designing all the blood effects for a production of the play Pheadra's Love and one of the actors just sent me the following haiku in honor. I love them, I had to share, my job rocks.
enjoy =) :
A Haiku for the Goddess of Blood:
Tightly sealed latex
Holds the anguish of my foes
And the pain of Self
It's the color death
The Alpha and Omega
Made by a Goddess.
Blood is very Red
It squirts around and goes "splish"
I slipped on it, oww.

I've been creating and heading up this little show since summer. Now we are cast and working our asses off. We have no stage manager, no costumer, no props person and most importantly no funding.
So what do you do if you have a small troupe of wiley actors/circus performers with a burning desire and no cash? You have a fuckin' bake sale. And we did. And Jesus loves us because people bought brownies and coffee and PB&J sanwiches and bannanas and cupcakes and cookies in droves and we made close to $100. Not much but compared to $0 it's a fortune.
This show has been so much work but I'm just in love with my performers and the work that's getting done. I have the feeling I used to get throwing warehouse parties close to 10 years ago. It's wonderful to know you are on the right path. It's like the way your ears and chest vibrate in a very specific manner letting you know you are in harmony, except instead of the voice its the soul.
Ummm, I better stop before I get anymore Santa Cruz here.
