blog Maximum fines

I'm trying at the moment to reach out regardless of who is listening to the internet world. I am starting what will surely be my short blogging life right here, right now.

I can only offer to you an observation I had today. Is it meant to be observational humor? Perhaps. But even though I fancy myself a comedian, I'm not that funny.

Today I saw a sign while walking my dogs that said "Curb your dog". Underneath it were the words "Maximum fine $ 100". My question to this empty space soon to filled up with avid readers is: What good is it to tell me what the maximum fine is? The minimum fine I can understand as I would fear how high the fine could go. But when I'm given a ceiling from the get go, I don't find that posting very prohibitive. Frankly, if my dog takes a poop and I don't feel like picking it up (which I never, never do) I can just check my wallet and perhaps feel like either way, no problem. Not that I sneeze at a hundred dollars, but in the long run that isn't going to kill me.

They often post Maximum fines on speeding signs as well. Is that supposed to make me slow down when I know that given the unlikely chance of me being pulled over for doing 110 mph on the way to somewhere when I'm late, that the maximum dealie I'm looking at is $ 300. They have the same type of thing listed on Littering signs as well.

Don't get it.

Okay, my career has started and I'm off elsewhere. If you have read this know I am going to try and be more attentive to this page.

That is all.

Adjourned.
