Jon, I like your notion of "localizing" the music scene and garnering the much needed Local Support for indie artists. Needless to say, build-up of the local fan base and music scene optimizes the economic support structure that most indie artists need to generate revenues. And even in this context - recordings, gigs, merch sales - it is generally not enough if you do the gig math ; but perhaps this will change.

I understand from jeff and the fuzz folks that the next initiative they are undertaking is to broaden the base of Local Support through their platform; and I think initiatives such as yours will be an important part of the growing local scene which to me represents a "renaissance 2,0" in music [the fuzz tech team hate the hype of "2.0" but, hey, I'm a naive recent convert to the wonders of the digital age].

Of course, music always has been local, first and foremost. What's different are the new web-tools to provide enormous leverage in support of these local movements led by folks such as you. Who knows, mebbe the second time around more musicians can actually make a living doing what they love most without having to have mundane "day jobs" like the rest of us.
