Hey, where the heck was I the first time June April uploaded "Tick Tock" and "Fear vs. Faith"! I should have checked out these songs just on the pulling power of the intriguing titles alone (time and inspiration should get to us everytime).
I'm glad, thanks to INNO's comments that I came across while surfing the Fuzz site today, that I circled back from June to Aprill to have a listen to these signal, but different, pieces.
Ms. April has an upbeat, schooled, and distinctive Jazz voice. The lyrics to her first piece compel: "tick tock, what are you doin with your life? Look around, you can't erase the mess you made. Don't waste your time, make up your mind." The second piece is just a easy Jazz scat, a nice cadenced interplay of her distinctively "bright" vocals against a tight instrumentation. Over-all two very nice arrangements, indeed, to add to your Favs and Fuzz jazz Playlist. Have a listen or three and enjoy.
NB: a note to readers of my reviews: the text of my reviews at this site may change from time to time. As I listen for futher nuances in a song or body of work, I keep modifying or adding to my thoughts, making my reviews an organic "moveable feast". Since Fuzz artists are constantly evolving, as are our own perspectives, I think Fuzz reviews should not be frozen in time. It's time to extend the power of real-time, web-based music discovery, by making our reviews, "wiki-reviews."
