OK, let's admit it, we all want to be funky and cool. How do we do it? Well, some folks just have it all the time. For the rest of us, we have to find and fix the funk in ourselves so "we too can be cool". Here's how.
Tim Allen, who is both a talented artist and knowledgable fan in his own right, reminded his network connections in his Review of Echo Root why we just Can't Fake the Funk. One good wiki-review deserves another.
It's definitely time to go back...
Clif, [cc: Spread The Word Blog and First Fuzzpile Artists]
Before I jump onto the Fuzzpile! myself [which I hereby commit to do so], I just wanted to say that you/Clif are indeed a polymath - a man of action always thinking out of the box and testing hypotheses about how the web works, social connections are made, and iterative content is developed.
The Fuzzpile! is a genius experiment of SocialBuxx™ in action and there will be much to gain from the data generated at the five Fuzzpile...
[This post has been updated on April 1, 2008 to expand upon the important notion of accelerated self-organization in human society - see below in red.]
This a repost of my note to Wildgabe and Clif whose recent discussions triggered the captioned observation, "Social Capital Wants To Be Measured":
Wildgabe [cc: Clif], re your comments at my "artist profile" at Arb/Algorithms [by the way, I use my Arb/Algorithms "band page" as a way to monitor how the fuzz folks...
What the participating artists have done with Strange Trax, as reflected in the discussion at The Birth of Strangers and reflected [only in part] at across the ponds mix, is educational, inspirational, and fascinating. These blogs are a must read and what is happening with Strange Trax is a must watch for all musicians and lovers of music on the fuzz site as we watch on a real-time basis an experiment on the possibilities of web-based artistic creation and development and the coming...
This blog was written in partial response to Clif’s blog entries on Why we need the Artist “Middle Class” to Succeed [my paraphrasing of his title], SocialBuxx™ - The New Social Currency Exchange, and finally his most recent blog, What is Art: Quantity vs. Quality? [which title I also paraphrase]. I centralize my comments here because I thought these blogs were relevant to many discussions around the subjects of “Music for Free” and the “New Music Ecosystem” [whatever that...
To: Depression, renamed WebOfDistress and Fans [Existing or Potential] – First Posted February 12, 2008 and Updated March 9, 2008 to reflect artist name change - [Detach Player on WebOfDistress' Uploads on 22. Serial Dreamer and 10. In Memory Of Our Dreams [or for that matter any other piece in the Serial Dreams collection at Toyz For Insominiacs' Playlist] while checking out this review and provide additional commentary below]
I checked out both (i) Serial Dreamer - Part 1 and...
I believe that the following note to Clif regarding his innovative blog experiments on the fuzz platform will also be topical at the Nightschool For Entrepreneurs as we all search for ways to establish Identity and Voice on the Web. I, thus, repost it here and will link/tag it at the Nightschool.
Cllf, I see that you have concluded, as I have, that for now the best place to place digital content [other than the "first landing" content described at 1. below] is in the blog-space...
To: Wayne Gerald Trotman and other Artists providing input at my fuzz playlists.
Thank you for your "artist comments" at my Epic-Experimental Sounds Playlist.
Without question, the input directly from the creators of the works on fuzz playlists put together by engaged and passionate fans [as I am one of yours] adds immeasurably to the music experience. Indeed, the future of music discovery in the digital age will be based on these artist/fan interactions that can then be...
Jon, I like your notion of "localizing" the music scene and garnering the much needed Local Support for indie artists. Needless to say, build-up of the local fan base and music scene optimizes the economic support structure that most indie artists need to generate revenues. And even in this context - recordings, gigs, merch sales - it is generally not enough if you do the gig math ; but perhaps this will change.
I understand from jeff and the fuzz folks that the next initiative...
[Note: Detach the Player on The Majority/info’s song, The windowframe, while checking out this review and provide additional commentary below that would be helpful for this Liverpool-based group and/or the rest of us listening to this and their other compositions.]
Here again are the lyrics of The windowframe posted by the group at another site:
Here the mood swings, feels like we are born to change.
It’s strange, what we once knew is now a distant memory.
Here the wind blows in and...
[Note: Detach Player on Tim Allen's Uploads on his film-scores in the making, while checking out this review and provide additional commentary below that would be helpful for TA and/or the rest of us listening to his compositions.]
TA, it's a pleasure just to detach the player and listen to your "film scores without the film" for easy listening, web-surfing, and key-board pecking [connecting with the evolving fuzz community] on a quiet Sunday [although The New Savannah...
