This is a really short blog, more an observation, as follows: 1. Until a few days ago, a number of musicians seemed to say, in response to suggestions from Friends or Fans to join the Fuzz Music Uprising, that they wished to wait to see what Fuzz could offer that they did NOT already have at the Otherspace. UNKL [by way of Cleveland and Berlin] who just uploaded five experimental hybrid pieces [mostly jazz, but some say, also rock, Indian, West African rhythm - you decide]. These five pieces [haddad - 5:50 min; south goes - 7:04 min; Frank n' Frei - 4:42 min; Mourning - 5:36 min; and Quiet Now - 4:24 min] are nothing but modern, mellow, punctuated, and cool. All are structured, tight, and yet full of surprises, each piece yielding to dominance and support by sax, bass, guitar, and drums...

HADDAD, just uploaded by UNKL on 04/17/07, is nothing but 5:50 minutes of smooth, rhythmic, and cool. This is tight and schooled jazz from the 80's made real by the f..ked up edginess of our times. Check it out and get these guys to upload some more to bring them full circle to fruition.

I have now listened to three versions of this piece. All of them have profound "truth-value" and street cred. Everyone in the Fuzz universe of Artists and Friends trying to make a difference with their music should check out KU and what Assumptions do to the fabric of our lives. What a great and moving piece.
