I have recently been exploring the network dynamics of the Fuzz site with particular reference to the evolving participation of many Artists that include well-established professionals, artists on the cusp of broader exposure, to youngsters just beginning to test the world of the possible [see, for example, Sarah Bettens, The Nightwatchman, The Lovemakers, Maldroid, David Douglas, Cantona, Campbell Natale, Kustoo, Zaman 8, Nux Vomica, Nathalie, to name just a few of my own favs – you will, of course, have your own and should promote them.]
In addition, I have followed randomly or by direct choice the blogs, comments, reviews, etc. of many contributing active, semi-active, or less active users and I am stimulated by the diversity and scope of ideas, information, and sentiment already expressed by the growing Fuzz community of subscribers to the Fuzz Manifesto. The inside Fuzz team advise us that there is much more to come and we see that the site changes every week with our input and assessment of the macro and micro-dynamics of site utilization.
I conclude from all of this that Fuzz and those who are here, Artists and Fans alike, are in a perpetual state of Beta, as works-in-process, as we try to define ourselves on a continuing basis, participating in a “living experiment” to push out the social envelope of what drives us with particular reference to music and everything that music touches. Because music provides both intellectual and emotional content that extends beyond the moment, this implies that the Fuzz platform has the potential to resonate in areas of our lives not ordinarily reached to create, exchange, and store lasting values [a subject of abiding interest at TheCapitalClinic].
Some practical DIY observations that follow from the foregoing are:
1. To derive values from the amazingly open and flexible Fuzz platform, Artists and Users have to do the heavy-lifting themselves. Other than the Fuzz platform itself, there is no free lunch in the value exercise. The more you GIVE, the more you get.
2. Energy cascades with the number of network connections established AND UTILIZED. Make Friends and provide feedback, public or private, to Artists.
3. If you don’t want to participate every time you log on, it is still fun to watch the Fuzz spectacle unfold. But it is far more engaging, just to DIVE right in and swim [or just splash around].
4. If the site configuration does not yet quite meet all of one’s needs regarding DATA MANAGEMENT and sorting, just use your imagination to “copy and paste” and create your own filing system until the Fuzz folks catch up with your particular needs.
