It's Sunday again. I'm sipping my coffee and doing some easy listenin'. This morning I am in my “epic” mood and have turned to my playlist of the same title. I have been reflecting on the nature of this site and what it is about this platform that draws me to it again and again.
My thoughts about the nature of “platforms” brought to mind that most familiar of lines in Shakepeare's play, "As You Like It" [2/7], All the world's a stage [and I re-read that wonderful piece here]. As did the Old Bard, I starting thinking of all the men and women as merely players on a stage carrying out the seven phases of our lives, from our ardent youth to the final homecoming.
Still in my "epic mood," I compared Shakespeare's conceptual notion of the world being a stage, written in approx. 1600 with the reality of today's global web-based platforms, in the new millenium.
My lazy Sunday ruminations then turned to the dynamics of this site in particular and the many activities taking place in real time on the Fuzz stage. Here, hundreds of new Artists upload their songs each week and both musicians and non-musicians alike add our ongoing commentary about whatever strikes our fancy. Indubitably, what is taking place is a process of active, semi-active, or passive self-definition on a growing platform with interacting players and an audience driven by our shared passion for music and its implications for all of the things in life that music touches.
While it has been said many times before, it bears repeating this Sunday morning that we are just beginning to define ourselves as players on a global web-based platform with transformational implications. The universal aspiration to communicate and engage has now entered a new dimension that none can ignore.
Finally [and to get back to my original Sunday kinda thought], it dawned on me that the "empty box" that appears everywhere [from profile development to blogs to reviews to PMs], with the cursor flashing invitingly, resembles and in fact is yet another stage. THAT'S what keeps bringing me back and back to this place.
Like it or not, the nature of the world's stage is changing from a poet's charming metaphor about how we play-act our assigned roles in life to the virtual reality of many platforms [including Fuzz's music uprising site] that now engages us all - whether we choose to be active participants or passive observers.
Even though I am a newcomer to it, I accept this new reality. I choose to be an active participant upon one of a number of stages or platforms where, just possibly, the world’s greatest drama is being played out.

The hope here is that you can connect with fans, build niche' markets, and go play live to establish the 'real' network. Eye to eye, and ear to ear. I'm not so sure it's any easier. But, there is hope here.
