Manipulation makes the world go round. Media, politics... it's all about that. Some manipulation tactics are illegal, some aren't (mainly those not considered to be a manipulation at all). This blog is about an artist spoofing us by manipulating the charts. I know that another entry is already dealing with this problem, but somehow I thought it makes more sense to write a second one with a clear message: Nuke the bastard!

If I were about to discover fuzz, I would definitely check out the number one artist in the fuzz charts. I would give it a try and listen to the Darkest Side. I would shake my head, wondering why a mediocre grunge singer earned the top spot. I would lose interest in fuzz immediately...

I wonder how often that happened in the past days when Darkest Side became the top artist of the week. An egomaniac with ridiculous press infos on the profile page is not appealing. His manipulation of the charts by a dozen fake accounts is even worse, his behavior seems damaging to the reputation of the fuzz company. If you allow such abuse to happen in the beginning of a growing music community, you will never be able to get it under control later. Actually Mr. Beaman is fooling the company, the users who contribute a lot of intelligent blogs and journals and of course those great artists who offer their masterpieces here on fuzz. There is a huge difference between aggressive promotion and manipulation. Spamming may be annoying, but manipulation can't be accepted.

The problem isn't Mr. Beaman. The real problem is how the fuzz people will handle the abuse. Tolerating his manipulation may frustrate those artists who are really commited to fuzz.

Credibility seems to be a big asset for the fuzz people. Mr. Beaman is harming the credibility and therefore must be banned.

I'm amazed that after being rumbled last week, this guy has progressed (and been allowed to progress) to the top spot!
I hadn't noticed until I saw this blog that it was the case. (I was too pissed off at having dropped out of the chart completely lol).

The chart is a farce and I have lost interest.

Shame

He progressed because he logs into his 20+ fake accounts and plays his songs over and over and over... I think the charts are also controlled by overall activity of the user and how many hits a page is getting...So all the attention lately was good to expose this guys seriously lame game, but it also unfortunately actually contributed to giving him a higher ranking...

Anyways, I have met some of the Fuzz guys a couple of times now, and have also talked to some of them recently concerning this issue. They are all musicians, cool, very intelligent and also extremely busy... They are re configuring the way the charts and stats work here, however this is probably not the easiest thing to do, and it is not the only thing on their collective plate of tasks to do. That kind of change wont be overnight, but I have been told by Fuzz tech's that this is high priority. This site is their baby, they don't want to see jokers like this attempt to stain the image or vibe here on Fuzz, I can absolutely assure you of that. So, Tim and anyone else, please don't lose faith or interest in Fuzz or the charts. Fuzz is still one of the best things happening in music today, and it has enormous room and places to grow into as well.

I myself was obviously rather furious when I discovered Mr. Beaman's scam. Clif obviously was the 1st detective on it, with his blog, and then within minutes it seemed like, Clif, Jostel, and myself were on here at the same time posting and emailing each other so rapidly we should have had an IM program going instead. It was like a simultanious "holy shit, look at this, no wait look at this . OMG look at this" and so on... Once it unraveled and was clear what was happening it was just shocking to think of all the actual time Mr. Beaman spent on his scam. Down right scary.

Anywayz, let's not let a rotten apple ruin things for the rest of us here, because they're unfortunately everywhere in life. Just step over them, kick them out of your way or whatever, and keep moving forward...

I had no intentions to doubt the good job the fuzz staff is doing. But sometimes you have to send a signal for the community to keep the people motivated spending time on fuzz.

He's still spamming the playlists though, that's why I lost motivation to scroll through others' playlists and listen to them, most of the playlists are from one of his pseudonyms. Hence Darkest Side is no. 1 in the playlists Top 10. I know that nearly all musicians playlist their own tracks, but he is doing this excessively and spamming the playlist site.
