On 26 July, Joe over at 3hive.com posted about Benji Cossa's song "Sunset" and had these nice things to say about it:
While I respect Lisa's opinion on what makes a summer song, and I certainly like shaking my bottom (no matter its size), I've always liked the easy-going, feels-like-the-sun-is-shining-right-on-me genre. Maybe it goes back to the lack of sunlight we have up here in Michigan the rest of the year, I don't know. But "Sunset" by Benji Cossa is just what I'm talking about. Katy tossed this one in our suggestion box, and I'd give her a big, platonic hug for it if I could. Does this song feel good or what? Not to mention the subject matter... "Doin' it, doin' it, do do dodo do." Ain't that what summer is all about?

Today (13/8), Sean at Said the Gramophone posted about The Octagon's "The Narrow Road to Oku</a>" and had these kind words to say:It's a little disoriented, this sandy rock-song. It went wandering into the desert with a bottle of red wine, a Pavement album, and a few hours later is like: what the fuck? Whoever it was supposed to meet with didn't show up; whichever stars it was expecting to see didn't make an appearance. And now its shoes are tied in unfamiliar knots, its hair is filled with grains of unfamiliar minerals, and it's got a catchy song in its head - something it found in a dune, burnished and hopeful and even a little buddhist. Whereever the hell it came from, The Octagon's gonna carry it around for a while. (Tip o' the hat to former Montreal drummer, Will Glass.)
