Hi Rob, and a happy new year. I've been thinking about your music a lot, which I enjoy very much. I assume it was a deliberate, conscious decision that you leave it in the more romantic times of musicals, ABBA, disco, sitcom TV etc., unhampered by punk, grunge, hip hop, modern cynicism, even by so called New Romantic sort of coolness. And I also assume that even if you seem to disguise it well, you ARE some sort of a punk. Because what's more punk than being a deliberate romantic non-punk when everyone else seems to take pains to be cool, modern and punky?

Despite of that I propose that the artist Rob Johnson would admit punk and grunge and modern coolness to enter his music and lyrics, but control it in a way people like David Bowie, Depeche Mode and Kraftwerk do: Putting their individual stamp on it, based on their closely elaborated romanticism. I don't speak of their sound and don't propose you use more electronic instruments etc., I mean the attitude or philosophy. Just a fan's thoughts.

(Note: I hope you don't mind I will put this in a blog)

Warning!
Are you sure?
