Bio
POOP were formed in 1993 in Orange County, California. The first lineup featured Rikk Agnew on guitar, Scott Hoogland on vocals, Eddie Glass on drums and Mike Rouche on bass. This lineup lasted about four months with Glass leaving to tour with his previous gig as Fu Manchu's guitarist. As the band prepared to leave for a short east coast tour, they found out they would be replacing their bassist as well. Pete Manino took the bass position while Chris (?) filled the spot behind the kit. When the band returned to California Manino became the second guitarist and Perry Giordano took over bass duties. A change in drummers came at the same time, Glen Dougherty being the new beater. This lineup recorded the Desecration Generation e.p. which was released by Posh Boy/Musical Tragedies in europe. The title track also became the opening song upon the Rikk Agnew Presents Volume 2 compilation on the Posh Boy label. Not long after this Manino left the band, as did Dougherty. Their spots being filled by Steve Guevara and Victor Salazar respectively. The band imploded shortly thereafter with Rikk becoming a Mau-Mau among many different projects. Both Hoogland and Giordano became members of Mad Bomber playing many of the POOP numbers within their set before disbanding in late 1998. Meeting up again in 2002 (at an Adolescents reunion show), Salazar, Hoogland and Giordano decided to return to playing as a unit, asking both Agnew and Guevara to return as well. The band name POOP was picked up again and this lineup kept on for almost two years, recording most of a full-length that they were not happy with. It was decided that Salazar was not happy playing drums and he left to be replaced by a long list of drummers. Second guitarist Guevara left to play drums for D.I., but has returned to play guitar several times when Agnew became unavailable for live shows. In early 2005, Leo Ulfelder (vocals-Terezodu) became the second guitarist after playing one of the bands songs near perfect without rehearsal. It was about this time that the band began experimenting with three guitarists with the addition of Jim Moser (ex-Willows). Still further changes behind the drum kit have been frustrating (with seven changes in as many months), though allowing Agnew to become a member of several other bands including 45 Grave, The Detours, Christian Death (CD1334) among many. Bassist Giordano left and is currently performing as a member of Agent Orange. He was replaced by Emmita Johnson. The bands latest drummer is Alex Schwartz (Terezodu), and they are busy recording for a summer release and US tour.

The biggest problem is that most all-age venues don't serve liquor and are pay-to-play and most other venues do serve liquor and are not pay-to-play. Venues make money on 1. Its ticket sales and 2. Its liquor sales or concessions (i.e., food, drinks, etc.). Bars have booking agents and all-age venues have (so called) promoters.
It is the promoters’ job to get people to spend money at the venue. Most promoters only do one thing well and that is promoting themselves (it’s not their...
Why you are even supporting any "pay-to-play" venue is beyond me. These venues would not exist if bands stopped playing there and people don't show up. Those venues need bands or sponsors to survive.
Look at the show listings on myspace, within a 50 mile radius on a week night, there is roughly 400 listings (even if say half are for another band playing the same venue, that's still 200 listings) and then look at the listing for Friday or Saturday. We are talking roughly 900...
