People Like You
It takes a real maniac these days to keep a small and specialised vinyl-only record store running during the era of CDs, Internet MP3s and mail-order. But the "Outcast" shop in Dortmund is still growing and it is one of the most established German record stores for Punk Rock - a very cool retreat that offers every record and piece of clothing a dedicated Rock 'n' Roller needs. In the year 2000 Andr.. Bahr, the owner of "Outcast", has founded a new label called I USED TO FUCK PEOPLE LIKE YOU IN PRISON... often abbreviated as PEOPLE LIKE YOU by those of a sensitive, easily-offended nature.
So it's no surprise that Mike Ness and his band Social Distortion entered the best-selling vinyl store for a signing session when "White Light White Heat White Trash" was released... Since everything worked out so well in the cycle of both music and fashion (the resurgence of Hot Rods, '50s Rockabilly-style, shirts with flame-prints and Cowboy hats suddenly becoming fashionable again) and the scene was constantly growing, Andr.. finally decided that his time had come to start his own label, the illustriously-titled I USED TO XXXX PEOPLE LIKE YOU IN PRISON. Being an established part of the scene for years already, it was not difficult for Andr.. to sign various promising bands to the new label.
PEOPLE LIKE YOU soon became well-known for delivering high-quality releases from hellishly good bands, accompanied with all the extras you'd expect from such a diehard: terrific layouts, coloured-vinyl LPs pressed on thick wax, and collectible Digipak CDs.
24 hours a day are not enough for the hardest working man Andre´ but right now he has good support at his label with Tobbe and of course the best booking agencies all over Europe like MAD, Destiny, Muttis Booking, Teenage Head and many others will take care of all the tours whoever comes around this times So watch out for the finest in Punk, Psychobilly & Rock`n`Roll Underground that PEOPLE LIKE YOU will bring to you in the future - theyre going to rock the hell out of you!
