MOSKITO SPEZIAL
"Kung Fu Fighting" LP
Drunk'n'Roll/ Riot Noise Music/ An'na Nadel Records etc.

To be honest with you, this record looks like crap, but it sounds pretty good. Obviously this band is really into the whole kung-fu thing which can be heard in samples throughout the whole record. I'd describe the music as some sort of punky rockabilly. The song "Mystik" is my favorite. The fact that all songs are in german makes it hard for me to review this album. To sum it up - Not the best I've heard but definitely not the worst. There's a limited (200 copies) version of the LP that includes a free bonus-CD as well.

CHIP HANNA
"KDAV Sunday Party" 7"
Drunk 'N' Roll/ May Cause Dizziness

Chip's latest vinyl! This 5 song 7" has got four songs from the self-released CD we reviewed last month, including the fantastic cover of Deadline's "The Way We Were". The only song I haven't heard before is "Neighbor". A new original, more laid-back than the orther tunes, written by Chip and guitarist Jimmy Moore. Great as usual!
The intro's on each side and the outro gives you the feeling of listening to an 'ol time radio show which is a cool thing. Cool layout as well! Get it whether you're a country-fan or not, 'cause this is good stuff!
/CD

VARIOUS ARTISTS
"Killed By A One Man Band" 7"
Drunk 'n' Roll/ Squoodge!!

Let's try to get 15 one man bands onto one compilation 7"! May sound a bit hard but Drunk'n'Roll and Squoodge managed to do it. Of course, the songs are quite short and of different quality but over-all it's a good record, and a fun idea!
Opening song "Do The Deadwalk" by Dead Elvis and his One Man Grave is the best one! There's some blues, some rock'n'roll, some garage and even some kind of electronica on here.
Bloodshot Bills' "Hot Spring Baby" is another good song and El Bastardo's bluesy version of "Hound Dog" is really cool. This is a fun record! Everything is really low-fi and most of the songs are fast. Look it up!
/CD

DEADONES U.S.A./ HOLLOWPOINTS
"Split" 7"
Drunk 'N' Roll/ No Front Teeth

The best stuff I've heard from Deadones U.S.A. so far! "City Lights" is a good down-tempo punk rock tune followed by a faster sing-a-long song called "Modern Day Vietnam". Definitely a good way to contribute to this split 7". I like this band!
The other side holds two great songs by the Hollowpoints. I really liked this band on their album "The Black Spot" and I'm glad to tell you that after hearing this one I like 'em even more. "Cell Block 21" is a really good song and "I See Darkness" is fantastic! This is a really cool split and you need it!
/CD

THE SPOOK
"Boneman" 7"
Drunk 'N' Roll 018/Squoodge!! #17.11

To be honest I've never really liked this type of "Horrorpunk". But this 7" is actually pretty good. I liked the b-side most. "Of Gods and Monster" is a good track and Dean Roca is great singer. This is not a 7" that I would by if I found it in a recordstore but I would definitely recommend it to fans of bands like Misfits and such. Good? Yes, but not my cup of tea.
/CD

THE NAZI DOGS
"Moneytaker E.P."
Drunk 'N' Roll 021/No Front Teeth 025/Caustic Rock 012

Old-school garage-punk-rock in the vain of Dead Boys & Rip Off's. I like it pretty much. The band had a hard time finding shows in the beginning because of their name but that seems to have changed. The band have just released their debut LP on TKO Records.
This 7" is their first release. "City of Losers" and "Moneytaker" are both good punk-songs. There are also two instrumental surf-tunes on the record that I personally don't like that much. Check this one out. "City of Losers" is a great song!
/CD

RADIO DEAD ONES
"Holy Ghost" 7"
Drunk 'N' Roll 008/Squoodge!! #17.08

Berlin has a lot of good punk rock bands right now. Radio Dead Ones is one of them. "Holy Ghost" is the second 7" from the band. Classic punk rock influenced by U.S. Bombs, Rancid and Swingin' Utters. I like it a lot! Beverly Crime's raw vocals fits perfectly in the songs and the songs are really good. My favorite song must be "Boxing Day". Punk rock with an attitude! I would also recommend the split 7" with Fronkick. Buy!
/CD

CHIP HANNA w/ THE BUSTED HEARTS
"Bluegrass" 7"
Squoodge!! #17.09/Drunk 'N' Roll 009

Four great bluegrass tunes from Chip Hanna and the boys in Busted Hearts. Two originals; "Cold Virginia Mist" and "Aks Him Now", and two covers; Ralph Stanley's "Medecine Springs" and Hank Williams' "I Saw The Light". This 7" is as far as I'm concerned the best release of last year. Who knew that Chip Hanna, ex-Drummer of the U.S. Bombs, could sing like this?! Hurry up and get it. Limited to 333 copies.
/CD

2nd DISTRICT
"(You're) Young & Disorderly" 7"
Drunk 'N' Roll 017/Squoodge!! #17.17

This is the first release from 2nd District. The band consist of members from District and The Revolvers. This is the first time I hear the band and I really, really like it! I think it's way better than the stuff I've heard from The Revolvers. Not that The Revolvers was a bad band, I just like this one better. The title-track "(You're) Young and Disorderly" is my favorite song on this record. Classic '77 punk rock with great vocals. The band also do a cover of "Starfucker" by The Rolling Stones. This is good stuff and you should have this one in your collection!
