Bio
I've been playing piano, organ, and synths for 22 years, I'm 36 yrs old. I took lessons from thirteen yrs old until fifteen yrs old, and then was self taught. When I was 21 I joined "The Big Boss Band" who played Grateful Dead cover songs. I played with them for about 5 years from 1990 - 1995 out of Lansdale, PA, a suburb of Philadelphia. All the while I was playing and sitting in with various local bands from around the area, including; Mike Guldin's Rollin' n Tumblin', Little Buddy Band, Drunk with Guns, Lazy Lightning, Splintered Sunlight, Bad Habits, Born Cross Eyed, Los Manatees, Crazy Legs and The VW Project. I followed the Grateful Dead from 88 - 95. 75 shows! After Jerry Garcia died in 95', and losing my best friend to a car accident on New Years Eve, I decided to head out west. I moved to Eugene, Oregon for about 5 years. While there, I played with the bluegrass band, Groovy Mandango, and Grateful Dead cover band, King Solomon's Lost Marbles. I played in various Blues bands, sharing the stage with such notables as James Cotton and Ken Kesey, at "Roosters Blues Jam", at a bar called Goodtimes, and the Hilton Ballroom. Anyone can pop in to a jam out there, and did all the time. I came back to PA, in May of 2000.
My style of playing is a mixture, of Honkey Tonk, funk, bluegrass, and the soulful sound of Motown.
My influences are Stevie Wonder, Bent Mydland, Ray Charles, James Brown, John Lord (Deep Purple), Ron "PigPen" McKernan, Jerry Garcia, Keith Emerson, John Lennon, Rick Wakeman (YES), Tony Banks (Genesis), Steve Winwood, Greg Allman, Kerry Livgren (Kansas), Herbie Hancock, and Billy Powell (Skynayrd), to name a few.
I live in East Norriton, PA, and play every chance I get.

If you write your own music and would be interested in making some money, I may have work for you. Only serious musicians/composers need apply. I would need several examples of your work and (not the whole thing if you feel uncomfortable) a small paragraph on equipment and techniques used in your composing. You would also need to sign a contract. Sound interesting? Please hit me back on here or email me at dave-hawkins@comcast.net or dave_hawkins@medconference.net if you would like to know...
