Love Cinema Vol. 6
OK I hate this band, punk wasn't that good to start with so why dig it up? I'm not starting an online war or anything but you guys should keep those day jobs at the local cemetery

Sincerely

Nothing special or different here. Ho, hum. Fuck it, if people slam on you so what? You're entitled to your opinion...

Guess what, I way hate the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The songs are boring and the singer can't really sing. It's like that Seinfeld episode "How you ever blew that McConnell deal I'll never know?" In this case, "How you guys ever duped the public I'll never know?" They basically hung out together for years and waited it out until the Grunge scene kicked in and they finally built a following after years of toil. They have a huge fan base too. I saw the Red Hot's at the Bridge School Concert in 2004 and our group got up and had lunch while they rapped and mumbled and barely sang their way through their segment. Then waited for Neil Young and Paul McCartney to perform. You know? Real artists!

Lets face it Phatduckk Punk in general is an energy and usually an angry one, I think it had its place back in the 70's in the CB's era and then again with the London Sex pistols thing and of course some of the best Punk Bands were Irish, but that reflected a social climate then and well, its done, what I mean is that not too much groundbreaking Punk has been recorded since those days. Of course its just my own opinion

I love it. Even if you are totally wrong and naive, I still love it.

Once again it's that tired 'ol conversation about punk being dead, almost always from someone who really doesn't actually know much about what's been going on in the underground punk rock scene.

...yawn.

you say that (70's punk) "reflected a social climate then and well, it's done.."

nice of you to declare that, but my social climate is still in need of reflection.

Let's face this: there's a massive load of rehashed and bad music in general, whatever the genre... wolfmother??

I could make an endless list of rehashed crap...

so ya know..prove me wrong...I like talking about it.

ps. your wearing a stones shirt for christsakes..(for what it's worth I like the Stones) but talk about resurrecting the dead?!

Oh well punker I suppose I shouldn't keep you in the dark any long it wouldn't be fair, I just put up 4 of my older recording's considered to some as punk, I just called it NY edge rock when I was playing around in the underground NYC scene during the early 90's we didn't dare call it Punk you must remember the Ramones were still around, a little before the Strokes came along, pity they could never sound like this, you are right about me not knowing anything about an underground Punk Scene, oh did I mention that I opened for Shane Mc Gowan? Its hard to see the woods when you in the forest. I would ask that you listen and comment!

Hey Lynch, name dropping Shane MacGowan doesn't necessarily make ya right. It's not like I just got off the bus and walked into town, I've done my time plenty--on stage and off.

However you spell it, statements like "punk wasn't that good to begin

with" and "not much groundbreaking Punk has been recorded since those days" say plenty beyond your words and maybe it's you that needs to come out of the dark. I know your in NYC n all, but it's a big world out there and I think your missing some of it.

Maybe it's hard to see the world for the buildings?

There are bands and scenes and moments where something special (and even important) is happening, all you have to do is look. It's happening right now. Really....

Is it groundbreaking? I dunno and I don't care. Certainly no less so than any other genre.

Fortunately, Rock and Roll has been ripping itself off from moment one.

And I listened and liked your stuff. I bet your an Iggy/Jim Carroll/Dylan fan, eh? However, I have to say what you did then and what your doing now, well, it's not like your creating some new sound unheard--you know that right? And for the record: that's okay by me.

come on now boys, play nice.

The thing about Kevin's review that bugs me is that he does not really say what he dislikes about the band, other than implying it is because they are punk rock. Does this mean Kevin does not like punk, and therefore all punk is no good to him?

This leads the reader to question Kevin's motive to listen to and write a review of Love Cinema Vol. 6 when they have clearly categorized themselves as Punk.

Also, a review, good or bad, should be more that "I like them" or "I hate them." What are the reasons? Citing the type of music as the only factor does not make for an enjoyable read.

Kevin it is ok to hate bands, but if you are going to be public about, it would be much more fun and informative for us if you went into detail.

Hey Sparkle,
Thanks for taking the time out to respond to my review, I really thought I was responding to the person who asked me to go check their music out, call me stupid but this Fuzz site gets a little to time consuming when it comes down to easy navigation, I dont dislike Punk I just didn't like their band, sorry but thats how this whole thing started, I posted some new music and some old music, take it handy and have a good 4th of July
Kevin
