THIS IS NOT AN ATTACK, I REPEAT NOT AN ATTACK

Hey Teach(TCC), can you explain how the ranking system works on this site, it just doesn't add up. Maybe you can enlighten me. I thought this site was promoting THE SITE. Any "big name band" or any computer minded indiv. can come on here and just do nothing and gain everything. I was thinking the site promoted individual bands for not only being on here but for actually using the site, PLAYS, COMMENTS, BLOGS, PLAYS, LEAVING COMMENTS, PLAYS, ANSWERING OTHER BLOGS, COMMUNITY. TO simply be able to just have hits on a page where people come check it out is a MYSPACE. I thought fuzz was more than that, but it seems they are a fancier MYSPACE. And if it reflects sales, what if you don't want to charge. I could also buy songs from other computers, and have friends buy songs and pay them back. This system should reflect a direct use of being on this site. You should have merit for using the site. Not laying an egg and leaving as it goes "gold". I thought this site had more of a personality, more of an unsigned flavor, maybe the "times are a changing" on here. I mean I left something for David Cook. No response nothing, so it's an egg laid and just laying there. Is he actually using the site? I can go to Rolling stone and see who the top signed artist's our and how much they sell. There are plenty of sites for that. Maybe you can explain. Frankly, I have been to many more pages that are much more exciting than Fuzz's. I have been all over this site and not one is something I would go to for exciting action. I go to LISTEN TO MUSIC AND COMMENT. I understand that people as yourself write interesting articles, but it's a music site. I love the group ALmost Fabulous(DS:) is a fav of mine, Philly too), but they our on the charts, like 68 or something like that, they don't even have music. Is this a Musical Uprising or Vocal Uprising? Something on this site is so mixed up. Please your keen insight would be appreciated. I'm asking questions that warrant answers, I'm not "ATTACKING" the site............. Isn't it fair to know what merits the charts hold. If you spend a great deal of time on a site where you thought this was rewarded, and are proud of the fact you are rewarded for actually using the site. I would like to narrow it down, not waste my time. Maybe I just need to have a bunch of links to this site. People click on, don't write me any comments, don't listen to any of my music and don't come to any other band pages to hear any other of their music. I will put in my c.d. insert. ALL fans just go to fuzz and click on Jostel Hason............. If this is how it works, I guess I need to get in the real game and get the fuck off the bench. I think a couple of fake profile should work for me too, No difference in my book. If this site is that impeprsonalable then what is the difference. Having someone not on the site being rewarded or having someone on the site using fake profiles actually using the site. I guess I need to go to all my sites, make some new ones, 'color' a word and when people click on it brings them to my Jostel page, then they say " what the hell" and click off. Thanks Jostel P>S> I am actually posting this as a blog. Would love everyones opinion. I am going to do my thing regardless of charts, but if you have them, what do they stand for, and what do they mean!!!!!!! It means that your band gets more plays and notoriety, isn't that what we all want, to be heard... If you spend the time..........??????????????????????????????? Much love and respect Jostel Hason

Seems like poor TCC is receiving some complains + concerns these days - I think the right person to address would be Jeff - he is the CEO of Fuzz. TCC is stakeholder of Fuzz and indeed Jeff's dad - but he's not part of the Fuzz management.

And here is my main issue: I am very upset that I am no longer able to blip fuzz songs - separating blip from fuzz is totally nonsense me thinks!

I am not trying to put it on TCC, no clue who he is, just thought he is very knowledgeable. Jeff is welcome to address this, as the Blog title invites the Fuzz management to help figure this enigma out....

This blog dealt with the very same issue: Top Charts Misery?

I agree with DS, Jeff or the management team should address this issue. Also, I too am very upset that the blip moved!!! I went to it yesterday and was VERY disappointed!! I don't want to have to leave this site altogether to blip!!!

JH, Here is a note that I just wrote to Goat/Jeff that may be relevant, in part, to some of the commentary here - at least as it relates to blip.fm which I also thought was a great additional functionality for music discovery and distribution on fuzz:

Dear Goat [cc: Jevs, Clif, Different Stars/SomeVapourTrails], I noticed that you have developed a separate platform for blip.fm since it has its own dynamic. Also, to promote a few songs the Goat likes, you created a "Blip This" Single File link: http://www.fuzz.com/singleFile [Goat seems to be partial to punk :=)]

Although I am sure that you already have it in your plans, I think the "Blip This" functionality you came up with for Single File is a fantastic music discovery and distribution tool for fuzz artists generally.

You should create a "Blip This" button [for each song] on every fuzz artist page that can be used by either the artist or any fan. This way, even if blip.fm is now on a separate server platform, you can still get the fuzz artist music into the hands of the growing number of blip users [DJ's?] throughout the world to spread the word about the songs of fuzz artists that they like.

Maybe Jevs/Clif/DS/SVT or one of the more technically minded users can come up with a temporary widget or something to accomplish the same result pending your development of a more permanent way for fuzz artists to blip their songs or enable their fans to do so [without having to search for their music in the blip search box].. In addition to the fuzz mixtape, the instant execution of a "Blip This" button for each song on fuzz would be a great way for indie artists to get greater exposure. Cheers, TCC

As for the charts and the ranking system, I have no idea how the present algorithm works - although I sense that it is just a temporary patch/counting mechanism while the fuzz management [I am not part of the management] attend to other pressing matters. Thus, I would not expend too much emotional energy on the charts [for now]. It is just one of many developing "music discovery" functionalities on the site and, based on my conversations with the fuzz folks, I believe "fixing the charts" is still on their long, long "stuff to do" list and that they will get to it in time.

As for your other well considered and articulated concerns, I would like to reflect further on the points you raise and revert in due course here or by PM. I for one always value and appreciate your presence here.

Cheers, TCC

@TCC:

Thanx for your answer. I guess one problem is that "single file streaming" belongs to different publishing rights than "embedded flash player plays". Once a song is enabled for single file streaming a lot of different websites and web services (aggregators like the hype machine or skreemr ) can use the mp3s. That's why a lot of artists and labels won't allow it.

I doubt that fuzz has the publishing rights to allow single file streaming for most songs that are available on fuzz.

"Blip this" in the FlashPlayer.

The problem is: blip.fm and fuzz.com are on different webservers......

Yes then it is probably a DRM problem between servers with respect to the tuneage.
