Why is it if a certain genre, like Rap for instance, which I love(heavy influences in my sound), can tell you what they have, what they are going to buy, how they are going to bring it, and how they are going to make love(dig it out) to the break of dawn? This is the norm now in rap music. This is never construed as Cocky-ness. People will pump it in there cars. Listen to it on I-tunes, everywhere. They spit the lyrics word for word, and even will spit the same lyrics that are offending them as a whole. Like when women are talked about like fuck dolls. Called a Ho, and they sing stuff like "going to fuck you in the bathroom stall @ the club". The girls will sing the song word for word. Maybe with a great beat you can say anything, the people are hypnotized. You know all the good stuff, like this is what I got and your a broke piece of shit(even though for a huge majority of them all the stuff in the video is rented)..... I am a mixture of genres, I don't narrow myself to a certain industry. I am very confident and have been in music for my whole life. No I don't think I'm the best, and no I don't think I'm better then anyone else, just different. I just know that what I do, thats my niche, and I bring it to that Niche. I am me, there is room for all of the great artists out there, and on here. I am not cocky, I am not saying because I'm on a chart I'm better then anyone who's not. I am saying I believe 100% in my ability, 100% in my music. And 100% in where I am going. I am Jostel Hason, and you, you need to keep an eye and ear out for me. I'm not being cocky, I am CONFIDENT, and I know NO ONE DOES MY THING, NO ONE. So the next time you are singing word for word about how great the artist is and how he's going to bang the shit out of you because he has so much money, ask yourself, is this guy cocky, or just COnfident? much love Jostel Hason

Cockiness is just "over confidence" and can actually prove to be detrimental. Sometimes it is difficult to know when and where 'confidence' becomes 'over confidence'. As I have mentioned before, you got da smooth goin on.

"Words" are given life in music and still the message can be mistaken or NOT fully understood. It is a FACT that MOST "hip hop/rap" degrades "CERTAIN" females as well as "CERTAIN" males. But it is truly magical when an artist is able to speak on MORE than whats on the minds of those "TUNED IN" to the worlds frequency of music & life. Very few artists are able to gain a descent fan base in EVERY genre. Because MOST artist buy into the idea of "ONE STYLE, ONE SOUND." If an artist is truly comfortable with "creating" music outside their comfort zone and it is GOOD. Then like the Nike add's say "JUST DO IT.":) Keep on creating that unique sound Jostel.

@Fathead: spot on...I feel cockiness is just over confidence! Confidence I believe is very healthy...it gives you the strength to do things that you wouldn't normally think you could do. Cockiness in a person is annoying and in my opinion a mask of what they really feel and that is insecurity. This is my opinion...nothing more.

Musicians are constantly striving to better themselves, even those that have been playing or writing for decades will always find themselves learning new things and developing. I have met a few cocky and egotistical people, and this is where their biggest problem lies; they think they are so good, that they don't and won't even consider personal growth. Yes it's always good to be confident, you have to have a healthy amount of self belief so you can inspire belief in others, but over confidence just leads to artistic destruction ultimately.
