I agree with your conclusion that the new "manifestations" will be, largely, positive rather than negative.
Sticking with the framing dialectic of old vs new, negative vs positive, de-volution vs evolution, and so on [while recognizing that there are other framing perspectives, e.g. see Popper's Criticism of dialectic thinking that could create false dichotomies], I felt that there is a duality of both the collective soul [so to speak] and the individual that sometimes responds to the heart of darkness as well as the forces of light and all that is true and good. The relative strength of these elements appear to have a natural cycle and I feel that the "evolutionary cycle" [again, if we choose to think in these dualistic terms] in the web-era is, at long last, gaining a pendular momentum for the better. Let's hope it stays that way. That would, indeed, be nice.
