Stick The Twist...
straight edge failure ~ not quite Dr. Know ca. FirstFun [[FistFuck]], no where near Rudimentary Peni, and Just a hint of Un-Rollins. It reminds me of Fear without the Beer. This song could probably have been called "slip".
7th heaven ~ "Your parents didn't want your life to be hard..." The story behind this song will be necessary as it could apply to many middle-classites or upper-classites. It's a song for the spoiled rotten - my-life-sucks-even-though-I-am-a-movie-star-child-prodigy-gonna-smack- it-up-and-collapse-my-veins type tune. However, as is true with good Punk the description is longer than the lyrics. Truly good music starts with a feeling. This has that.
DUI or DIE ~ has the early punk "bootleggy" feel ~ it's a little cleaner than the clubish bootleg - it's catchy and pokes fun at driving under the influence. I like the increasing tempo at the end.
Instant asshole just add liquor. The problem with Instant Asshole is that they are contagious, the more I listen to them, the more I want to realize that I don't want to listen to them [ ears of my older self ]. I can't do this...they have some ear-worm thing going on [ ears of my younger self ]. The idea is appealing. The gimmick is good. The sounds have to be fun as hell to play on stage. Watching a pit - there's nothing like it. This is an energy band and an acquired taste. If the listener approaches with an abrasive attitude...they are going to dig the hell out of it. However, this is not music to be taken lightly.
Favorite tune - DUI or Die. It's catchy as hell and I dig the ending.
I don't need to put the stories behind the songs in this review as they are posted on the site. And forget myspace...by reading their bio, they don't have a damned thing on myspace.
