New music venue

I'm trying to gather as much info as possible to start up a music venue in my little tiny hometown. Anyone with any info on this I'd be stoked about. If you helped start one up, tell me your stories. Did you hire a grant writer, gather enough community support, break into a warehouse and eventually it became okay with your town, what'd ya do? Thanks :)
