Desert metropolises which depend entirely on integrity of infrastructure for survival, which call to mind what happens every time one, say, wants to exit the Fillmore after a show, but with 700 people between oneself and the door, one has more than abundant time to consider scaling that logjam by a factor of at least 100,000, refiguring it as masses trying to get out of a water-exhausted region and into more bountiful climes, and wondering how much fun that would be!
