Flaked for the second night in a row on going out. SOOO tired. Watching What Not To Wear. PEOPLE HAVE SUCH BAD FASHION. WTF? If my foot was not so messed up from years of wearing high heels, I would be wearing them NOW at my house- I flipping LOVE heels. I love dresses, piling on the accessories- who are these women who wear ZERO make up, do not know that plucked brows rock your whole face, and do not know how to walk in heels???!!?? Total parallel universe....
I finally got to meet Paul Barker and Duane of Ministry / Revolting Cocks, Jesus Lizard fame last night. My ear drums and adrenalin are still recovering. After being a HUGE fan of all three of those bands, to sit in a local dive bar and have a whiskey with Mr. Barker would have seemed unfathomable to the 18 year old punk / SHARP skin girl that I used to be, who would, kid you not, roller blade to "Beers, Steers and Queers," as well as "Stigmata." Sidebar: I did not know...
HEY KIDS! Come celebrate 20 (YES 20!!!!!!) Strange years of the Smiths BREATHTAKING album, Strangeways Here We Come, this Saturday night at Fat City, here in lovely SF, with myself on the wheels of steel, and my new friends This Charming Band performing the classic album in order! Fat City is where the old Studio Z was, across from Slims on 11th at Folsom!
My roomie and I always discuss favorite bands. I have a lot of favorite records, by bands that only did one album (or two, and the first album was seriously from the GODS!!!). Here are a couple that come to mind, 6 diet cokes in: 1. ADORABLE: Against Perfection: Nothing is NOT Perfection on this shoe-gazer classic. I was on a date recently, and we were at a gig. Between bands, the DJ played a track from this album. I ditched my date, ran up to the booth, and made out with said record...
I just got another hour of my life sucked away from me sitting on the phone with these fools, since I now can not call inter-state.....wtf!?!? and my phone STILL DOES NOT WORK. Thanks cingular, AT & T or what ever you call your sorry asses now
I never watch the news on channels owned by large corporations. I studied media in graduated school, and actually applied to NYU's Media Studies PhD program. If you know anything about Ruport Murdoch, who owns Fox, for example, you know that much of what his stations put out as "news" is actually spun to support his political views. However, I love Mornings on Two. I have been watching it since I went to UCB, and it is my comforting white noise in the morning. I don't...
I had a super emotional weekend that I was totally unprepared for. My roommate is one of my four family members, for all intensive purposes. His best friend from college, Lance, is like my big brother. Lance and his partner Ray live in Florida. I love them both very much. They come out to SF about 3-4 times a year to visit my roommate and I. Lance's mum recently passed away. This weekend Lance and Ray came to do all of the funeral and wake rituals here in SF, where the family is...
