blog Question for all independent groups and singers
Hello folks. I am the creator of Circus Earth. I have a question for all of you. (If you don't want to reply I totally understand). How many of you as artists have been approached by managment, producer, record companies (major or indie) with an interest in your music to further your careers with a recording contract. I'm just curious to see how many of us have been contacted.

Thanks to all artist patrons.

Circus Earth, I think you ask a really relevant question that has several dimensions, past, present, and future.

I hope you get some meaningful responses as to the past.

As for the rapidly-changing present, based on my experience with digital music communities to date, in terms of scale and scope, I believe that the number of reactions received from artists moving to a web-based environment will evolve, depending on the following circumstances and developments:

1. First, I think the amount of OUTPUT you get from a network is directly a function of the INPUT you put into it.. The energy of a personal network is dependent upon, largely two elements (i) the number of nodes on it [being Level I]; and (ii) [the Google insight] the number of connections that those nodes have in turn on their networks [being Level II]. The name of the game to optimize energy in digital music communities is to optimize in one's personal network both Levels I and II.

2. Second, I think this notion of who is responsible for driving forward the "Inside" and the "Outside" of the artistic endeavor is just beginning to gain definition; and it's early days.

As for the future, of course, only time and focus will tell.

Good luck on your responses. As and when you get responses, if any, I would like to bring your experience to inform our Nightschool For Entrepreneurs, as Lesson 5, if I may.

I expand on some of foregoing points at my latest blog about Level II "viral" connectivities

Cheers, TCC

Capital Clinic......thank you for responding to my post. I've read everything you've posted. It was a very good read. But I'd still would like to hear from the other Artists who are in pursuit of their careers. Again I ask the question. How many of have been contacted or approached by management, producer, record companies in regards to further your artistic career. If you are selling vast amounts of cds and songs. And you have well over say 1,000 sold. And the concensus is record companies both Major and Indie labels monitor your progress in selling...(After all isn't that the name of the game).....are they pursuing and contacting you.

That's alot of free downloads Emcee......and we both know how much work it takes to complete our art. Not to mention the time, money invested into it. Well I always knew as far as the realistic view on all this......"The music business is a very, very hard nut to crack..." .....but hey.....that's the price all of us Artist's must endure.......it's our side of the coin.......the non-artists who delegate the business......is the other side of the coin. Peace to you Lynx....

An old band of mine called Earhole was approached once with a distribution deal by an indie label called Insanity Records from Germany, now basd in Poland. Back then we didn't sell any songs on line, just actual CD's. 2 weeks after this "proposal" from the owner of this label, Earhole broke up...
Earhole was also on a reeallly small indie label called Undifinable Rekerds, but it was basically a friend working his ass off around the clock for a handful of metal/strange rock bands in North Carolina. That prob. doesn't mean squat to you, but I thought I would share it anyway.

On another note, how are things? Haven't talked with you in a bit. Man, you reeeeaaally should upload your music here. I know you prob. have told me why it's not manifested itself here yet, but it slips my mind currently, sorry, but uhh yea - upload that stuff man! :>)

Thanks Beradley.......Actually bands that work their ass off to try to get noticed and recognition is a positive one. They must really tolorate each other as band mates. Most bands working very hard at doing gigs and trying to gain a following usually self-destruct because if someone of a record company don't recognise and sign them...the band members lose faith and....well you know that story......Thank you Beradley for your response....: )
