I think this site (FUZZ) as a whole has somehow gotten slightly sidetracked with this sites own mission. It's mission is to allow a medium for artists to post their music that they no doubt have worked on night and day for us Fuzz fans to digest and critique, it's here to nurture these artists, to allow fans into the musicians world where it would normally be difficult to do so. I love the fact that I can actually interact with each of the artists! It was what makes this site stand out amongst the others.

There are some questions on how this site ranks each artist and clearly none of us have an idea...we all have our hypothesis but that is just an eduacted guess. I do know there has to be many factors that take place in ranking an artist and at this point I don't want to speculate. I don't have that authority.

What I do want is these artists to feel like they are welcome here under no false pretences and that their music will get the opportunity to be heard without bias or trickery. I feel bad that my bands group is No. 68 as we are not a musical group and if we could be replaced with an artist, then please go ahead and make that change! Us fans are here to listen to music, interact with the artists, blog about life in general or sometimes get our own views heard!

I have so much love and respect for these artists who have the courage to put their music out there...the music world can be brutal, unforgiven and downright cruel but it can also be rewarding, heartwarming and a launch pad for those who really have what it takes! If I can speak for everyone here on this site, if there is a success story for any of these artists, we have nothing but the best of wishes and pure joy for you!

One more thing, we all as individuals have a right to question anything in life, that is our humanistic nature and to be villified for asking such questions is simply not fair! We all have a right to be heard!!!

All my love,

Christine HEARTS FUZZ!!!!

I agree. It is also important to note, that the warm "Fuzz"y feeling is turning into a blaze. As happens in most of life there exists a power law. TCC has notes on this, I have posted notes on this etc. The algorithm may need some tweaking.

When I was a kid the charts were a good way to learn about new pop music, which means the company that provided the charts was faster than myself. For many many years now all charts only show me music I was aware about before it got into the charts, which means now I'm faster than the companies that provide the charts. That's why I lost interest in charts a long time ago. So for me personally it's completely uninteresting which kind of algorithm they use, whether it's based on postings (that makes musicians spam) or on being favorited (that makes musicians suck up to the users or even create hundreds of fake fans) or on song plays (that tempts some musicians to use song playing software or tick the song play button themselves with each song being played for a second only) or on any other non-musical activity. The only thing I guess that would be honest would be paid downloads, because that cannot be manipulated without the manipulation being sanctioned negatively (by purchase costs).

Manipulation can be an indicator if people care about fuzz. There's hardly any manipulation on fuzz. This is not a good sign. Echo Root seems to draw benefit from manipulation, Darkest Side did it too, but otherwise many artists don't even try because they pretty soon are aware that the number of listeners here on fuzz is pretty low. The result isn't worth the efforts...

Of course this is not fair. Jostel Hason or Tim Allen really offer interesting stuff and gives music fans an idea what it means to be creative. I think that's the reason why I like fuzz, no matter how small the community is.

It's nice to be seen on the charts, I must admit. Yet, if that is my sole purpose for posting my songs here, or spending time here, then I should really just get a life.... just an opinion.

Well let me ask you this, does the fact that an artists is in #1 change your day? I mean really, most the time the artists on the top 10 are those I have already listened to because I've made it a point to search for music on the site and listened to it. I get my Rolling Stone magazine and flip to the charts, see Little Wayne and some other junk. Close the magazine and go back to listening to my music of choice which may not be #14 or even #20 but they are still amazing in my eyes. I don't get why all of you are always complaining about the Top 10 artists. If you have a specific person you want in #1 then go promote them and it will happen. Simple and true.

I don't think anyone was or is complaining about the top 10 artists. That was never the case! What was in question was Fuzz's process on rating these artits, etc. How does it in fact work? This wasn't a case of someone mad at someone becuase they were top billing, it was a question of numbers and rankings. I get your point, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter if the artist whom I specificially like is #1 or not...it won't change my day. I wrote this blog because suddenly certain individuals were villified for asking questions. And they were just that, questions. You can't hate on someone for asking questions. I also agree with you that if there is a particular artist that I like, then promoting them is the best way. I have done my fair share and will keep doing so.

I have never questioned your ability in making interesting music, Clif. But tell me one reason why no one has the right to get suspicious? Mutual respect is a nice thing, but it means nothing if it prevents us from speaking openly. Weird charts are excusable, manipulation isn't.

Echo Root
Profile Views: 29965
Song Plays: 3011

Jostel Hason
Profile Views: 9335
Song Plays: 3298

Tim Allen
Profile Views: 5992
Song Plays: 1914

And now guess what's strange with the numbers above. I will help you. It's the numbers of your profile views. If those will have an impact on the calculation of charts (and I am sure they have) it's pretty obvious why you are in a top spot. Congratulations for selling some songs, but it still doesn't explain your exorbitant amount of page views.
