My First Day at Bottom of the Hill
Yes my first day on the job they threw me right into the fire. It was the night after a Tree Tibet concert in Golden Gate Park. All the bands that played the festival were on the guest list, 100 plus people or so (that’s a big guest list) the band is on Royal Crown records. Butter was the headliner. As the who’s who of the festival in the park showed up we also were able to sell a few tickets to the lucky ones. Now this is quite the change from the jazz/supper club that I had worked at before. We would have the same Latin jazz ensemble every Saturday, hip-hop jazz on Monday. Although they were good, I definitely needed a change (3 years, once a week) I knew every note they were gonna play before they even got there. Now back to the bottom. Almost all the guest list was in, tickets sold out! Then the crying / sob stories started! Everyone that couldn’t get in had a reason why should be in ahead of the other 60 or 70 people hoping they could get in. (Here’s a hint kids, if a door man tells ya “the club is totally SOLD OUT.” Chances are your not gonna get in, and your not gonna make any friends by pushing the issue. Just leave it alone, and get there early next time. From what I got to see the show was fun, but I had my hands full with sidewalk surfers. (The ones waiting to get in)
