so i clearly jumped the gun on that hot snakes piece... but, not to worry, if the mixtape expires, i'll just upload it again when i have time. new raconteurs album is amazing. (it's what icky thump should have been.) new black keys album is pretty good--need to give it a few more listens. new portishead is great.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Fuzz Community, I made a mixtape of Hot Snakes tunes just for you. I took tracks from every one of their official albums. Unfortunately, I can only add three songs per artist per mixtape, otherwise I would have at least doubled the number of Hot Snakes tunes. But because I'm a nice guy, I added Drive Like Jehu's best--and shortest--song in addition to some songs by bands that influenced Hot Snakes' sound. (Suicide, The Wipers, Mission Of Burma, Neu!.)...

we've got a while, but on september 17, nick cave & the bad seeds are playing @ the hollywood bowl with spiritualized. as far as awesome combinations go, this is up there. mark you calendars... we'll picnic, get loosey goosey, and watch a great show.

ted, here, tooting my own horn again. well, i'm also writing this to implore you to listen to the duke spirit. they're a great rock band, they've got one hell of a singer/frontwoman in leila moss, and they're taste in influences is impeccable: jesus and mary chain, modern lovers, velvet underground, sam cooke, etc. go to the fix to read about their newest album, neptune. it's slick like tom sizemore in HEAT, but it's still a sweet LP.

i'm pimping this new nick cave album because i like it so much. go to the fix and read my gushing review. don't be scared. happy st. patrick's day. i'm more than a little hung over from doing cool shit last night, but no one likes a whiner, so here i go again... huzzah.
