Bio
It is written in the stars, for this Virgo Loves Cancer and their gift is song.
The stars aligned in 2005 and the alternative rock constellation Virgo Loves Cancer was born. Shining center stage is the textured vocals of singer and bass player Charlie Kindred. Charlie's timbre came to be after her lungs were crushed in a horrific car crash. The resulting throaty breath style became her signature and soon it was heard on TV shows such as Dawson's Creek, Party of Five and MTV Made.
Sharing the limelight with Charlie is VLC Guitarist Joe "The Simian." Joe learned after going to a fortune-teller as a joke that he has extra potential creative powers beyond that of ordinary men due to the mysterious "gift markings" on his "double simian" hands. Drummer Stacey Lee rounds out the VLC lineup. Born on the same day as Ringo Starr, Stacey feels a serendipitous calling to add her stamp to the VLC dynamic.
Virgo Loves Cancer draws from the past to create something fresh for the future. With a more structured song approach, less feedback, and the rhythm section condensed to just a distorted bass and drums, Virgo Loves Cancer sounds like a contemporary spin of the shoegaze / dream pop music played by bands like Loop, My Bloody Valentine and Medicine.
