Bio
Winter of 1995, a pissed year for our protagonists,
they hid away in a cellar in Prenzlauer Berg,

below an illegal bar called “Bär”, trying to release their frustration

and anger and give it a sound.
The guys were heavily influenced by the punkrock of the late seventies

and so they started to play a lot of coverversions of songs by names like Clash, Damned,
Stooges, Slaughter & the Dogs, Ramones, Jack & the Rippers, Heartbreakers...
after a short time the first own songs called “krank”, “wertlos” or “plastix” arised.
The Shocks were born.
All the words are in german because it’s the language in which their mothers gave them shit at home.
Along the years they played their songs in a lot of different countries,
and made a bunch records. The Shocks have been gigging in Holland, Chech Republic,
Swizerland, Austria, Hungary, England, Italy, France, Spain and in the most german cities.
The Shocks is an established name in germany and they’ve influenced a lot of new bands with their

music and attitude before this kind of Punkrock became popular again.
They wore tattered ties and painted shirts before MTV and helped to bring back

some self-irony in a petrified and depressed scene.
Their lyrics are about all day life stories, from the direct neighbourhood,
influenced by things that happened in front of their eyes.

The Shocks are:

Drums - Älex
Bass,Vocals - Don Lotzo
Vocals, Guitar - Smail

Press

"Germany`s THE SHOCKS sound like 77 punk by the way of the BUZZCOCKS with mild

influences by the SEX PISTOLS and 999.It`s like the holy trinity of the first wave of

british punk. The press release compares them to German bands TRIO ,MALE ,ABWÄRTS
but i`m not familiar with any of these bands to comment. So stick with what you know. The vocalist

sounds like Pete Shelley and the bouncing basslines are classic BUZZCOCKS .
But there is a overall SMALL FACES guitar sound that is played with less distortion than the pistols.
And the energy and verve of 999 fuels the pace behind this recording.
THE SHOCKS are not rookies when it comes to releasing material and and have at least three ep`s

and another full length. THE SHOCKS have the ability to write great songs that will appeal to mods ,
pop punk kids as much as the hardcore 77 chaos punks.this is great stuff."- SP

EQUALIZING-X-DISTORT, Issue 3,Number 5 (UK)

"Wow ,do these guys ever kick ass ! i haven’t heard a german band this good since ... i don`t know.
i feel like shit and i don`t feel like thinking.but this is really fucking good.
DETENTION and the CONTROLLERS immediately come to mind ,but sung in german.the recording on this

is perfect too.raw and slightly sloppy sound puts this record right over the top and makes it a must
have."-NF

MAXIMUM ROCK N ROLL 1998 (USA)

- Juliette

NO GOVERNMET 2004 (FRANCE)

"Wacky german guys-spicky hair, "Kill me I’m Rotten LUCHS BROS. t-shirts, and eyeliners. Christ, this is
fun dancey pogo punk. Think a more raw VIBRATORS and BUZZCOCKS singing all in German and you’ve got the SHOCKS.
The one song totally reminds me of the SCTV SEX PISTOLS spoof skit with John Candy and Martin Short -
the vocals are identical. No need to give this a long review, cuz it’s brillant. Get it, buy it,
order it deutschmark, dollar or euro, send ‘em all for a copy of this Lp "- AS

MRR #235 (USA) December 2002

Únicamente comparables a último álbum japoneses Registrators ( Hombre, si!! A lo mejor he exagerado un
poco… ),
" - Alex Campos
