DUI or DIE !
INSTANT ASSHOLE is an Oakland, Ca. based hardcore group of Straight Edge Failures that get together to rock the fuck out. And, because drunk people don't make much sense,and we enjoy playing music together, we all decided to become a band. We are confused on some points but we write songs for our friends and put emphasis on ALL AGE UNDERGROUND SHOWS. We prefer to play 2 shows in one day a daytime all ages generator/backyard/basement/diy showspot in the daytime and a good solid fun cool bar or all ages club at night.
And YES ! I would be A TOTAL
If I hadn't quit drinking when I was 21 years old. So now we sing these songs to show folks what assholes they become when they drink too much.
Here are some descriptions of the three songs we have posted at fuzz:
7th heaven I wrote for jessica beale, who starred in the TV SHOW 7th Heaven . She got busted doing cocaine and was outspoken about her dislike of the show. but my drummers contribution is about his (our) friends who have trust funds (presummably easy life) but instead of doing something good, they do drugs by themselves in the dark. in the dark room or sometimes less literally a the dark of their minds or just not too bright.
Straight Edge Failure- written about staying true to an ethical lifestyle but not getting too carried away with trying to do EVERYTHING ALL AT ONCE. Kind of like seeing life as a process that unfolds over time , taking the time to be kind to yourself and others rather than beating people up for eating meat or smoking a cigarette. we are not straight edge we are pro freedom and anti stupid. haha.
DUI or DIE. Someone willing to drive drunk just really doesnt care about themselves or anyone else. They usually think the opposite about themselves , meaning they say they love their friends and would do anything for them, its bullshit. so I wrote this song to remind people that if you drink and drive you JUST DONT CARE !
